Joined the Gym
I did it. In an earlier post I told you I was awarded $150 for a membership. I went and signed up. I seen some of you go 3 days a week. Is that a good way to start? Other than walking I haven't exercised much at all. Before surgery I went to this same gym (88# heavier) and found that I only liked the treadmill. I also have fibromyalgia and found the bikes hurt my feet. Any advice would be appreciated.
I have to wait for the check to be sent to the gym so I am going to go on 9-9 (the kid's first day of school)!

Jim,
Congrats on your decision to join a gym. financially alone, that-ll keep your ass going, right? I believe that they have some sort of orientation and depending on your activity level, the staff will recommend a routine for you. i found the easiest and best way to start is to try circuit training. they will tell you how long on each machine. and its only like 20 mins worth to start, but its a hard 20. that's what she said. That way you can narrow down the piece of equipment you like that most, again, that's what she said. I also favored the treadmill. i would spend 30-40 mins on it daily at my work's gym.
Until they get the check, I would just walk outdoors to get primed up. build your stamina. sounds like you have little ones, let them ride a bike and you keep up on foot. take the dog too. hell love ya for it.
i bought a used tai-bo tape. 8 mins of hell on earth for me. but i try like heck to do it. even if i have to sit down for a bit and rest :)
