Told my boyfriend about my band

I have mentioned that I have been dating someone-Bob-for the past three months and have been waiting for the right time to tell him about my band. I am not shy about it, I tell everyone who might be interested, but I figured I would see where this was going before I shared something that could be a turn-off to a new relationship.

We drove to Birmingham Alabama for a wedding, a trip of about 750 miles, so we had lots of time together.  I met his niece and her husband, who both received lap bands in the past six months.  They were talking about their successes and failures so far, and neither seems to have reached good restriction yet.

Normally I would jump in with advice and support, but since Bob didn't know about my band I couldn't very well tell his family first.   And Bob was going on about weight loss surgery being unnecessary, that all this couple needed was willpower and discipline.  Of course Bob is pretty overweight himself.

When we got back to the hotel, I took his hand and put it over my port.  He asked "is that a hernia?" When I told him it was my lap band port, he didn't say anything.

The next morning I wanted to talk to him about it so I started with "I know you don't care but...."  He stopped me and said "It's not that I don't care, I care about everything involving you.  It's just that it doesn't matter."

Looks like love to me.     Judy

Awww - what a perfect response!  I'm sure it wasn't easy telling him after the comments he made either.  I'm sure you feel relieved getting it out in the open.  I'm happy for you!

Yeah, so far we are going great.  Love in your 50s is a whole lot less dramatic and a whole lot simpler.
