I am soon moving to Michigan, Muskegon in fact.  I am looking for a primary care doctor that has a good reporte with the bariatric demographic who is comfortable with post-op issues.  Any recommendations?

Thanks
Rach

I know that the hospital system in Grand Rapids-about 30 minutes from Muskegon-has a fantastic WLS program.  I believe it is Spectrum Health

Welcome to Michigan.  That part of the state is beautiful and very laid back.

Don't know docs in Muskegon, but MMPC recently merged with Spectrum Health, and MMPC used to be affiliated with the bariatric center in Grand Rapids (now it's Grand Health Partners ... their docs are Baker, Foote and Kemmeter, they do a lot of the WLS in GR at Spectrum Blodgett). You might call Grand Health Partners and maybe you could get a recommendation from them for a doc in Muskegon.

It's a nice area. Welcome to Michigan.

I agree with Eileen.  Call the Grand Health Partners and either go there, or maybe they can refer you.  my sister-in-law lives in Muskegon (actually Norton Shores) and uses doctors in Grand Rapids.  It's not too far to drive and they have very good doctors there.

Thanks all!  Finding a new doctor is kind of like finding a new hair dresser :-)

One of the best bariatric surgeons there is, Dr. Brian Gluck, lives and has his practice in Muskegon on Sherman Blvd., right across from Mercy General Hospital.
Another man, Dr. Kvisto, just joined the practice, too.
I would call "Life Without Limits", Dr. Glucks office, and ask for bariatric-friendly primary care docs in Muskegon. The hospital, Mercy General, is a great hospital, too. I had my RNY there on 8-19-09.You can get the number by clicking on the LWL ad on this site, or by going up to the top of the page where it says "browse bariatric surgeons". This would save you a lot of unnessesary miles by not going all the way to Grand Rapids, although the docs there are excellent, too.

Welcome to Michigan! It's the most interesting state to live in! That's why we stay.

I just moved back to the Fremont area but go to church in Norton Shores. Dr.English in Marquette recommended I transfer to Dr. Baker in Grand Rapids. As far as Primary Care I don't know, I will probably choose one at Pine Medical in Fremont.
