Sunday already?
Good Morning all!
Nick decided to wake up really, really, really early today, so here I am.
It's so dark out now. Fall is almost here.
I don't think I'm awake enough to come up with a QOTD-how about you just tell us something...how are you feeling today, or what's up in your neck of the woods?
I'm going grocery shopping and cleaning up the house. I also have to take back some stuff I got for my son for back to school. Of course the skinny jeans aren't skinny enough and the shoes that are on sale aren't good for skateboarding, so they need to be returned. Yeah, my kids are kind of spoiled, but that's ok :)
Hope you all have a good day!

I was up this morning at 4:51. The grand doggy decided it was time to get up and started barking. I came down stairs and let the dogs out, fed them and laid back down on the love seat. Granddoggy Frank just wanted to play with his ball, actually he wanted me to throw it for him. What fun. I thought I would be able to go back to sleep. NOT. Oh well. I got to watch the morning news.
Today is more of the same. Pack stuff that's laying around. Now we've got too many boxes marked MISC. Those are horrible to unpack. I might as well just put them in a pile for the garage sale.
My words of wisdom for today:
If you don't HAVE to move, stay where you are! It's a lot easier.

Hi bren and jan,
just sitting here now eating a egg burrito. already took my 1st grader school clothes shopping at target. went $67 over budget. and i know, mother of the year here, bought her mini high heels. she wanted sparkly ballet type shoes but her feets are too wide like mine. so i felt bad and gave in.
Misc Note of the Day: i now have a foot fungus for wearing garage sale shoes. dang it all!

Today...I am thinkin..and maybe ramblin a bit.
Went to the Renaissance Festival yesterday and had a blast. BUT...I am in the best shape of the past 5 years (been moving/walking/exercising) and my knees and ankles hurt the worst that they have hurt in MONTHS!!! I can't express to you the pain I was in last night. I go to the Ren Fest every year... I took 800 Motrin and this morning am much better. But this got me a thinkin....and ramblin....
I know that after I lose the weight after my 9/16 surgery then my need for Motrin should be significantly decreased. I guess that after yesterday I just got to a bit of worryin. I use to take Motrin 400 every morning and then sometime later rinse and repeat w/ 600 or 800mg later in the day. For the last 6 months I SIGNIFICANTLY decreased my Motrin use and only use it 2 or 3 times/week. With my increased exercise this has been pssible. But I can't imagin not using it at all...just cant see it.
And Caffeinated coffee. I can drink a pot of it, easily...daily...before 11 am! Now in the last 6 months I have made huge changes there too...and I will continue to do this. This morning I am enjoying my last cup of caffeinated coffee. All decaf from this point on. I am gonna miss caffeine! I can and have done the decaf coffee thing...but I have lived on the zing of caffeine for YEARS.
OKI! I am done whining..just needed to do that.
Kitchen is all cleaned out. Nothing I can binge on. Tomorrow I am starting my liquid diet in preparation for my surgery in 2 weeks...oki....omg...WHEEEE

RuthMarie - after surgery your Motrin with DISAPPEAR! No anti-inflammatory medicines in your pouch. You'll take Tylenol and deal with it best you can - for now anyways.
I too was always a Ibuprofen user - and didn't realize how much I took of it until after the surgery, but honestly? I don't miss it. I've taken Tylenol maybe a handful of times, and mostly it was because of a headache. I think subconsciously we rely on it more than we think we do...
Caffeine - ugh! I went through some withdrawals on that one! Decaf I drink now, but when you get further out, you may be able to do 1/2 decaf and 1/2 caffeinated. I started drinking coffee again 3 months out. Remeber - caffeine dehydrates you, and after surgery you don't need that - and it leaches the calcium from your bones, and you don't need that either...
Congratulations on your upcoming surgery! We all have gone through the "I'm going to miss ____" phase after surgery. It sounds like you're doing what you need to to get ready for surgery and be successful afterwards!!

RuthMarie,
Tomorrow is the first day of the rest of your life! Congrats on your upcoming surgery! I had mine 8-19-09.
I was very surprised how satisfying the liquid protein diet was, even before surgery. You might not feel FULL, but you will feel satisfied. You can always drink a little more protein. I averaged about 90g, even though they say 60 for women.
Some of my favorite liquid meals ( and I'm still on the liquid diet for another week or two, somewhat by choice for the extra week; I'm going on vacation and don't want to get into new food until I get back from my bus trip) :
1. Protidiet--flavored liquids you add to water or Crystal Light
2. soups. They stir up better than Protidiet soups. By the way, one of those "stick" blenders is THE WAY TO GO for blending the cold or hot soup in your cup. I haven't tried Focus28wellness.com hot beverages or their cold drinks yet, but I'm guessing they are GOOD.
3. I love Sugar Free Popsicles or the Fruit bars (make sure the sugars are 10 or less)
4. Bariatricchoice.com is a great place to order from, too.
5. Add chicken or beef boullion (low fat if possible) to add flavor to soups. Adding garlic or onion powder is yummy, too. I even used DRY Good Seasons Italian dressing powder to add to the soup-yum. Various spices can be experimented with, especially with soups.
Have a great couple weeks..It's an exciting journey....U Can Du It!!
