BCBSM approval after surgery???

I have BCBSM PPO and my Dr's office said they don'y give approvals. You just have to wait till after surgery and submit. They say I should be covered but I'm freaking out a little becuase I only have a BMI of 38.8, joint pain, incontinence, & low blood sugar. None of the huge things they are asking for.

Anybody similar to this or have another experience, I'd love to hear so maybe I can calm down a little.

 Don't be discouraged. BCBS is really good at approving these kind of surgeries. It seems as if they has changed in the last 4 years. I got an approval first and then everything else followed

 Yep, this is how it works with BCBS of MI.  Basically it's the surgeon's responsibility to make sure that all the criteria are met for approval otherwise they don't get paid.  If they don't think they'll get paid, they certainly won't do the surgery.  

Once my final piece of paper was in the hands of the insurance clerk at Hurley, I got the call to schedule surgery.  I didn't have that dreaded wait time most people who with insurance waiting for the pre-approval.  Surgeon said I was approve, I was approved and scheduled.  

thank you both, takes some of the worry away, but it won't be all gone till they do pay, and I won't even have the surgery till mid Sept. I'm more worried about the insurance then anything else. My Drs office said they've never not had them pay so I hope that holds true, but I always tend to be the non lucky one.
