I remember my Nut telling me no lettuce or apple skins for 6 months. When I finally got there (6 months) she said, oops did I tell you that....I just meant apple skins.
My advice is chew, chew, chew and like Brenda said, make sure your home and don't have any immediate plans. Personally that's how I introduced almost all new foods...at home for the night.
