I had a baby the day after Christmas and lost most of that baby weight. I have gained around 15 pounds since then and that is WAY TOO MUCH for my liking. What is a great way to get right back on track and it can be just the most basic things to the most not so basic. Please help, I need it. I am so unhappy with myself again, just as when I was pre-op.

small things like drinking 8 8z glasses of water before you have any other drinks.
writing down what you eat.
taking small walks.
taking your vitamins.
eating your protein.

Go to Pam T's blog and check out her list for getting back on track . . . you will find it very helpful.
It is everything we already know but sometimes just need a reminder.  I have printed it out and put it on my frig.

And remember  your not alone . . . I put on 20lbs when my son went to Iraq . . . and he has been out of the Marines now a year . . and I'm still struggling with it.

Hang in there!

Brooke,
Stop being so hard on yourself, learn to love yourself right now. It's only 15 pounds to take off and you can do this!! I know you can.

Congrats on the baby too, how wonderful is that?!!

Okay getting back on track, one day at a time or even one hour at a time.
Protein first then fresh veggies/fruits, stay away from all the white carby crap. Stay away from crackers unless it's planned with your meals, WW crackers are good.

Are you stress eating?
Are you exercising? Take time for yourself to exercise everyday and be sure to do some weight lifting. You don't have to go to the gym. Lift that baby!

Old habits returned? Detox your body if you need to but stay away from the 5 day pouch test, that just messes with your metabolism anyway.

Eat dense foods, no slider foods. Enjoy chicken, steak, shrimp...

Be proud of how far you've come, concentrate on the positive not the negative.
Set small goals for yourself, maybe 5 pds. at a time and celebrate your success!
Remember this is for life, it's not a race. The weight will come off but slow and that's okay.

Thanks Kristy for pointing the way to my blog.  Brooke - here's the list of "Back to Basics" she was referring to.

Back to Basics Guidelines

1.First, find a good local support group. Then … DO NOT MISS ANY support group meetings. Make it a priority, put it on the calendar and don't let other stuff interfere with this important part of being successful. I attend 3 per month and believe that they keep me on track and focused on my journey.

2.BACK TO BASICS -- you know the rules, you know how to use your tool, so do it.

* Protein first and always (80-100g/day).
 * Moderation with carbs (no white stuff - focus on veggies, fruit and whole grains to get your carbohydrate needs of about 100-120g/day and enough fiber to keep the digestive tract working properly)
* Get enough good fats in your diet.
* Get all your water each day - 64oz min
* No drinking with meals or for 30-90 minutes after meals
* Track every morsel of food that passes your lips. You can't know how to adjust your intake unless you know where you are starting from. Figure out where your calories need to be and stick to it 90% of the time.
* Plan your meals and eat on a schedule. I still follow the hour-by-hour schedule that Hurley gave us before surgery. 3 meals, 3 snacks pre-planned and eaten at specific times during the day and water intake between to curb hunger and grazing tendencies.
* Be a religious fanatic about your vitamins and supplements.
* Exercise your butt off. If you're not sweating like a pig, you're not working hard enough.

3.If you haven't had labs drawn recently then get that done. Some vitamin deficiencies can actually cause weight regain, so eliminating that as a culprit is important.

4.Lean on others for support when you're not strong enough to do it on your own. Eventually you will become strong enough and then you can be the support person that someone else relies on down the road.

5.GET HELP -- if you need to deal with the mental struggles that we all face of food addiction and disordered eating, then make an appointment with a therapist. A psychologist recommended by your surgeon's office is often a great resource. You don't have to do it on your own.

Eventually you will become strong enough and then you can be the support person that someone else relies on down the road.
