Finally got my surgery time!!! I have to be there on Aug 20 at 10:30 a.m.

After having to cancel my surgery in June, as my father in law (84 yrs) became very ill. He came home from the hospital/rehab this pass Saturday. So were all happy to get him home again.
PATS I wasn't sure I would pass because of my lung condition. Then it ended up being my pass heart surgery that was going to put my surgery on hold again. After many phone calls in the pass few days between my cardiologist, Ypsilanti and me. My cardiologist finally faxed the right letter and my heart cath results to Ypsilanti this morning. So my surgery is on!!!
I'm so excited about this new journey that I'm about to take. Yet I do have a fear, but I think we all have that at some point.
I'm concerned about blood clots. I ask the R.N. about what I can do beside getting up and moving as early as possible to avoid getting them. Her reply was "to get up as soon as possible, and with blood clots it is mostly the roll of the dice on who gets them." So the only thing that I have control of is getting up out of that bed and get moving!
For the newbie I would tell them to get on the these boards and read, read, read. Try to join a support group before surgery. As you all are a wealth of information.
Thanks to Pam and all the lovely ladies at the support group meeting. Hope to see you all at the next meeting.
p.s. Terri your dinner tasted GREAT and of course Ralph did a wonderful job at the grill!
Thanks
Cheryl

So glad to hear you've got a date and time.  Shelly told me about your past heart surgery and that that may have a bearing on if you could have RNY.  It may be a lot of hoops to jump through, but believe me, it's worth it, every single hoop!
Not even a week to go for you!
Blessings,
Jan

Congratulations on getting a date and time.  They did change my time when I called the day before.  I really didn't want  to be the last surgery of the day but, at least they didn't postpone it at the last minute.

Sorry to hear the first surgery had to be postponed!
