Hello everyone I am looking for some help or direction. It will be five years since I had my surgery on August 23rd and feel wonderful However, things have been changing very rapidly and I have to figure out why. My lowest weight was 148lbs after surgery and than I hgained a little but stayed right around 158 for over two years but I hav erecently went through a lot of personal issues and was severly depressed and put on lexapro in January, I had lost weight an dwas down to 143 which I loved but the way wasn't really good anyways I have been gettign things together personally and in a really good place righ tnow accept my weight has balloned to 181 lbs!!!!! This is unacceptaBLE! i HAVE BEEN WOrking out three times a week and eating between 1500 and 2000 calories a day. I know more of the calories are carbs than should be but I am still within an allowable calorie intake to maintain weight. What is everyone doing if this has happened to you? ALso I am off the lexapro and wondering if that had any issues. I eat pretty healthy so I am not sure how or what to do. Also woudl a personal trainer help to level out the right workouts and do they normally help with eating issues too>

Patty, I am 5 years post op, and while I have not had a significant weight gain, I wanted to lose those last 10 pounds.  I work out consistently, but I was not being really accountable to the things that I was eating.   So while I was not gaining lots, I was also not losing.   So I started out again with the Beaumont Weight Control Center, I met with the dietician, the medical doctor, the psychologist and took control back by keeping a food diary, cutting out those things were not necessarily bad, but will not promote weight loss.   I have been on a program for 3 months now, and have lost 7 pounds, and now only have 4 pounds to lose.   Start out from the beginning, be accountable and be very honest with yourself about EVERYTHING that you are putting in your mouth.   Do not give up the work outs, it is really about burning more than you take in.   I keep it around 1100 to 1200 calories.   Stay away from carbs, and I do not feel hungry.   I do feel like my pouch is working again, because I have taken control of IT, and it NOT controlling me.   Hope that helps.   It is really great that you have identified that you are having a problem.    That is the hardest ad biggest step.      Let me know if I can help in any way.    Oh, by the way, I would have gone back to Henry Ford, but my insurance changed, and I cannot use the Henry Ford System.   I LOVE Beaumont, but you should be able to do the same thing at Henry Ford through their weight control center.    Carol

I am with you on the "I love Beaumont". Just having everything I need there, the classes, the gym, the medical staff, etc. has taken away any excuses I might have for not sticking to my routine.

I know I'm just barely out from surgery, but prior to surgery I always found that if I kept a food journal, I lost weight because the numbers held me accountable.  Right now I use FitDay.com and it does all the calculations for me and keeps me in line.  I'm having trouble getting in enough calories, but I'm getting better.  Good luck to you.

HI,
I am also very frustrated. I had my surgery 4 years ago and was down to 145 lb and now I am pushing 190. I also have had some major family problems since last July 2008.
I also started taking an antidepressant in the early spring.

I am eating everything in sight.. I can't reallly afford to go back to Grand Rapids.
I am thinking about calling the surgeons here to see if they would take me and
help me.

I am so mad at myself.
