Hi fellow Michiganders,
Well, I went to the seminar/consultation last Monday.  All went GREAT.  I'm even more excited and ready for this.  I have to lose 10 pounds before surgery.  I haven't been able to get on this yet!!  I did walk yesterday, though.  I need to get my  mind going right.  I am a bit nervous for how it will be afterwards.  I don't want my mind to mess with me and that makes me scared.
I did get a letter from Barix Clinic (in Yipsilanti) on Friday stating that my insurance may require me to have a phsy evalutaion.  So, I am waiting to hear from the Clinic if I need to do that or not.  The waiting game, I guess.
So, I'm making progress to my new life!!

The psych exams are really no big deal.  You'll do fine.

Hi again,

so did you decide on barix?  if it is, their shrink is Dr. medic, who will pretty much "prompt" the answers for you.  i mean he just needs to make sure you understand the seriousness of the change to your body and your commitment of a lifetime to it.  don't sweat it.

things are moving along for you.  keep a positive and upbeat attitude and you will do great!

oh, and don't forget to promise yourself to get yearly checkups with the clinic, even if your doctor moves on to another practice,  so they can test your vit levels, prevent anemia and long term problems....

Boxermom,
yes, I am going to go to the Barix center in Yipsilanti.
If I have to have a phsy evaluation, will I have to go to Yipsilanti to have it or could I just find one closer to us?  I will go there if they tell me I have to, though.  (we live about 3 hours from yip)
I am soooooo excited, just wish I would hear from the insurance company if I need this evaluation or not.

Thanks all for replying and cheering me on!!

Tari,
Who is your surgeon?  I went to yspi and Dr. Medic only works out of there like once a month.  I think his office is on the west side of the state.  I think the reason why they want you to use their dr is because of how closely they all work together.  There is less confusion and delays between his office and theirs.  It only takes a week for the phsych papers to get to barix, but sometimes the surgeons have A LOT of patient files to approve before scheduling calls you.  And Medic really does know what the insurance company requires in order to approve the surgery.  My friend used her own phsyc and it was never an issue.  its all who you feel comfortable with, just make sure the new doctor KNOWS WHAT TO ASK YOU ABOUT IN ORDER TO BE APPROVED FOR WLS.  You wouldnt want to just have a quick consultation without getting your paperwork done.  sometimes new drs want to get to know you before approving such a big undertaking.  If you already have a doctor that knows you then you should be good to go.
