Keeping on top of your post-op care
Hi Sax,
I just wanted to thank you for the posting that gave me the reality check. I just got out of the hospital tuesday the 11th after 13 wonderful days in the hospital . I do not even remember the first 2 days of being there. I know I was given a bad combination of drugs. Being in the hospital helped me stabilize mentally but physically I still have all the same problems. Still can not eat. I go see my pcp wed. and will ask him about a referral out to a different doctor. I am still ticked about the person that answers the phones at Barix, and the woman that called me from there that was so nice (so far she has called twice after seeing my postings, but I do not think I am physically able to deal with the attitude she has if I do go bacj out there, presently I have decided not to call her bac****il I atleast see the pcp and what answers and/ doctors he could get me in to see.
I really do not want to scare anyone, I am now trying pass on that each persons experience is different pre and post op. For example one post op problem I have is I can not eat left overs. I am sure that happens to quite a few people, but not nearly all of them.
Congrats on such wonderful accomplishments.......hoping the rest of us are not that far away.
Thanks again

Was wondering what was happening to you!!!! I was hoping that it was minor and everything got cleared up, I am REALLY sorry to hear that's not the case. So are you at least a little bit better of physically? I'm assuming that you probably had a feeding tube so hopefully you're feeling a little bit better.
I hope that you find the solutions you are looking for. If you haven't already done it, you should google Melting Mama. I know she used to post on here and on another board. She had her own blog for awhile (and probably still does) but she was going through some serious problems herself. She was actually researching and seriously considering reversing her RNY (a highly risky surgery).
Keep us/me posted, again I hope you find the answers that will get you back to healthy!

Hi Sax,
Just a quick update on what happened while in the hospital. The first 2 days I do not remember a thing, not even being admitted. They got my vitamin and mineral levels up, but stated it was temporary due to the fact I still can not eat. I did not get a feeding tube because they were trying to find out what was causing the issues. Mentally, I am on top of the world thanks to you and others that very politely put me back into reality instead of letting me stay at a pity party. Physically, getting weaker again by the day, but also grateful I had a few good days before the weakness started kicking in again. I am still searching for help and follow up with my pcp on wed. and hopefully he can refer me to someone that is willing to take on another surgeons patient. To whine a little more, my left side upper rib cage is hurting soooo bad. I am still thinking about going back to Barix, but, I don't think I am ready to battle a less than pleasant person over the phone yet to try to make another appointment. When I do think about calling out there, I can hear her stating I am wasting my time and theirs and their doctors are surgeons and DO NOT see patients unless they require surgery. How in the heck do they know if you require surgery or not if you don't see their "surgeon". I may not be the brightest crayon in the box but dang, I thought that on was commonsense. I just worry about the people that are having problems and struggling to get their self esteem back that would not confront the issue(s) I know that first year I did not have courage enough to really open my mouth, now I would dance on peoples desks to get their attention if I had to (the furthest this has gone so far is standing in a chair and yelling at a rude lady, they tried to shut me up real quick. My friends refer to me as the "spit fire" lol. I am no where near violent, but do not have a problem voicing my opinion. I will try to find melting mama and read her experience. The vast majority of outcomes are excellent, since I had passed the 5 year mark awhile back I "thought" I was in the clear. Until that stupid flu kicked my butt in June. I will let you know what the doc says on wed.

Which hospital were you at? I somewhat assumed you were at Barixx. If not you need to swallow your pride, or better yet have a friend call. From what I'm reading you need to be under the care of a bariatric doctor IMMEDIATELY! It may be best to get one of your friends or family members that are a little removed from the situation to make the call. While a bariatric doctor may not be able to solve your issue quickly or easily, or even without outside assistance, they need to get involved.
Even though my surgeon is on the other side of the state I don't know that I'd hesitate to call him if things took a turn for the worse. If he couldn't see me he would at least make sure that I got in to somebody and quickly.
Good luck!
