Good Morning everyone!
It's time to rise and shine. It's the beginning of a new week-the last week in July. Summer's sailing by SO fast and I think it's because we look forward to it so much and plan so much.
What's brewing for you? Had a cup of coffee on the way to spin class this morning and think I'll brew a pot real soon..
Got blueberries over the weekend. So fat and so good..... Will be canning some blueberry butter and some syrup....
QOTD-Do you find you do better with eating the same menu most days or do you better with a larger menu variety? I am wondering if my major stall or plateau has to do with the fact that I usually have the same for breakfast and lunch everyday. I would like to loose just a little more before my big bike ride in 5 weeks. I can't find the right formula.......

Good Morning Deb and the rest of you Michiganders.

I am home waiting for the babysitter, then off to start another fun filled and meaningful week at work.  (HA!)  Deb, I got some blueberries at Meijer for making jam and they were awful!  Not sweet at all and when I squished them up, they weren't really blue....kind of an ugly, unripe green color.  $3 wasted!

QOTD-I have tried a schedule and routine, and I have also tried shaking things up.  Neither thing worked for me, so I am still trying to find out what the heck my body wants from me.  I have gained so much weight without ever getting to goal that I am constantly starting another "diet" every week.  I realized yesterday that never in my life have I lost weight and kept it off.  I have about 60 lbs. to go to reach my original post-surgery goal and I just don't think it's going to happen.  I have even decided that if I do reach that goal that I'm going to reward myself with the rest of the plastics that I want done.  I just don't think I have it in me to lose that much weight.  We'll have to see what happens.  Ok, Monday morning pity party is done.  Hope you all have a great day!!!

Good morning !

Deb - Blueberry butter.....oh that sounds yummy.  I've never heard of it, but it sounds so good on a piece of toast.  My mom used to always make freezer jam and that was so good!

Brenda - I like your 'pity party' lol...I was having one of my own all last week.  Just frustrated and mad because the scales was not budging.  I had not lost anything since July 9th, just up .5 and down .5 back and fourth for like 2 weeks.  Finally, last Thursday, I decided to do what everyone always says to do when in a stall....up the protien and water.  It worked, I am down 4.7 since Thursday...go figure....

QOTD:  It's a good question because I have been in a stall and feel like I was eating the same thing day in and day out.  always a yogurt for breakfast, salad for lunch and then whatever for dinner.  I stopped drinking protien shakes a while ago because I just don't enjoy them but then read on OH somewhere about Champion Nutrition protien powder so I ordered some.  Got it thursday in the mail and I have to say, I love the flavor!  (I got the chocolate) So since Thursday I have been trying to have 2 shakes a day just to up my protien and start the scales moving again...and it worked.   I'm down 4.7 since then.  so I'm going to try and keep doing at least one if not 2 shakes a day for a while since I am tolerating the shakes and it seems to help me lose.

I've still been eating foods I should stay away from, but it's not huge quantities like last night I had 4 tator tots.  And the other night, a small bowl of popcorn.  I want to be able to have variety!!  I did the Adkins way back in 2001 and lost 134 lbs (of course gained it all back plus more) but I don't want to feel like I am on the Adkins diet my entire life....

Have a good day everyone!

Nan

Good morning all.  Meijer's gas station coffee in my cup this AM.  Went to the Tigers game last night and am definitely feeling the lack of sleep this morning, but the weekend was wonderful (my guy and I have been easing up to the "L" word) so definitely worth it.

QOTD-Do you find you do better with eating the same menu most days or do you better with a larger menu variety?

I don't know what it is going to take to get these last 40 pounds off, other than maybe strict discipline and more exercise. I don't eat the same things daily, but I don't follow as strict a plan as I should either.  Brenda, you are worrying me with your worries-I hope you find whatever you need to get the momentum going in the right direction!

No coffee for me yet.  Walked then home for multi-grain cream of wheat with 2 tbsp of flax seed.   Will be enjoying a hot chai latte tea (found the receipe somewhere on these boards) once my 45 minutes is up.

QOTD - I don't think it really matters if you are eating the same thing or changing it up.  I think one of the pitfalls of eating the same thing is that you think you know what a serving looks like, so you stop measuring and weighing your food.  So you end up taking in more calories than you think,  I do think that variety is the spice of life.  You need to change things up so you don't get bored with your diet.  I also think if you get bored with your diet, your body gets bored also.  Use the same concept though when changing your diet. If you are used to yogurt and breakfast - try cottage cheese and fruit.  Salad for lunch - try different meats and things in your salad - Try pineapple with ham in your salad.

Good Monday Morning!

What a nice morning.  My Ohio trip was wonderful - my face still hurts from laughing.  We did tons of shopping, I have lots of new treasures!

Deb can you share the blueberry butter . . .my dad is a blueberry nut!

QOTD- I have maintained the same weight for about 1 1/2 years . . . I get going and then back slide.  I'm worried with my car accident a few weeks ago and not being able to work out like I do that I will gain a few pounds . . I have restrictions until September 1st.  I need to add more protein and get on a better schedule.  I keep telling myself that after my TT I will be more motivated to complete my journey . . . not a very good excuse.  So my answer is that eating the same thing I think for me has kept me in check but also kept me in a stall.  Shaking things up I think for me will be the key to getting the scale to move.

Enjoy your day!

Hi Kristy,
I'd love to send some your way. My son abosolutely loves blueberries, too. He made me a picture in preschool called "raining blueberries." I still have the picture..
The blueberry crop this year is incredible. Huge and sweet. I just went to a grower this morning and got 5 more pounds of berries. I've started a batch of syrup/butter and will probably freeze the rest...

Deb,

Your so kind . . . how about sharing the recipe.  I saw blueberries this morning at the fruit market and they looked pretty good . . . they are from the west side of the state so I'm sure they were great.  My sister has a great blueberry bread recipe  . .  but I'm sure it's not weight loss friendly!

Say Kristi,
I can send you the recipe, but I can't seem to send a personal message. Can you send me your email via personal message?
Thanks

Good morning!  My usualy decaf and protein for breakfast and in my cup.

QOTD-Do you find you do better with eating the same menu most days or do you better with a larger menu variety?  I do a lot of the same things everyday, but mix up my dinner at night.  I have the same coffee/protein in the morning, and just recently have added an iced coffee in the afternoon with protein.  Lunch is usually fage yogurt with SF jelly/jam and maybe 1/2 scoop of vanilla protein (yup - I've upped my protein a LOT).  Dinner is usually a protein and vegetable, but last night I snacked on soy chips and cheese.  Lunch was a yucky burrito I hate hardly any of at a restaurant - BUT I ate the chips.  Today its showing and I'm up 1.5 lbs... hopefully its just salt and water retention from the salty foods yesterday.

I eat out WAY too much - I think I'd do a lot better if I didn't.

I was on a major stall too - that's why I increased my protein so much.  I had always used 2 scoops in my coffee in the morning, but bought a bigger cup and now its 3 scoops.  2-3 scoops in my iced coffee, 1/2 in my yogurt if I eat it.... and it helped - I dropped 5 lbs over the past few weeks.  Oh, and I quit exercising too.... bad me....
