Questions for Grand Health Partners patients...
Dr. Kemmeter did the seminar I went to, and I really liked him and read about him on OH as well. Dr. Foote did my scope and he seems very nice too. I believe all the surgeons are very experienced, I don't think you can go wrong with any of them.
I'd suggest reading the book by Dr. Baker and two of his patients- The Real Skinny on Weight Loss Surgery. VERY informative!

Be the kind of woman that when your feet hit the floor each morning, the devil says "oh crap! she's up!
I had Dr. Baker with my original RNY in 03 and Dr. Kemmeter just did my revision June 09. I love them both. So helpful and informational. Not to mention how comfortable they make you feel.
Things will come along quickly although while your waiting it seems forever.
Hope it all works out and good luck.

I would suggest contacting the insurance company before you get too far in your adventure. I too have Athem BCBS of California. I went through all the preop with Dr. Foote as well. Once all the information was submitted to the insurance company, I learned that BCBS of California does not have ANY approved centers in Michigan for Bariatric Surgery. This was in Jan. though and things change all the time. I had my surgery in Evanston, IL...this was the only surgeon that would take the preop test were already complete here in Grand Rapids. I called every approved center in IL and IN...all the rest wanted to do ALL their own testing and even were requiring me to go to their seminar. So, my suggestion...call the insurance company first. Let know if you need the name and phone number of the girl I work with, I believe it is the same regardless of what company you work for. We must work for the same company? Anyway...I am happy to say that I am now back with Grand Health Partners and Dr. Foote...he is doing my follow up...I just had to stay with the Dr. in Chicago through my three month follow up.
Well, all of the GHP doctors are listed as preferred providers for my plan. I went to the website and looked them up before I even started making any appointments. Just because we have the same insurance company, doesn't mean we have the same plan? Plus, they updated their WLS rider in April, so maybe that is why it is different? Do you have PPO or HMO? I have PPO.
