I started my liquid diet (and two bars) today for my August 19th. Its only noon and I feel so hungry and struggling...I will do it because I know I need to but yikes.  I am just writing this as a way to remind myself that the first day is the hardest day, this is what I need to do to get my body ready for surgery, and that it will get a little easier every day and that I cant give up after 6 hours! Ok, I just needed to say all of that "out loud".  Thanks for listening!

You are totally right, Carrie.  You can do it.  The first day and about day 10 were the hardest for me.  Are you allowed sugar free popcicles.  They were my saving grace.

About day 3 or 4 you will think that you are going to have a breakdown if you don't get real food.  After that, it gets much easier.  And after surgery, eating just isn't the same.

While the weight loss is easier with surgery, the lifestyle is harder.

Hello,

This is my  first post and I was actually so glad to see I'm not the only one struggling with this liquid diet. I've stayed home all day today becaue I feel if I'm confronted with "real " food I'll cheat. I never thought I had a big problem with food but, after today and this diet I know I do . I'm day 3 and can't wait for this to be over. I only have to do it for 8 days. I'm from the Fenton area where is everyone else from ? How do I start a post ?

look forward to talking to you guys

Welcome Tee.
I don't know how anyone can do a liquid diet pre-op.  I specifically chose a place that didn't make you do it because I knew I couldn't handle that!!
You are doing fine....it will be over before you know it.

At the top of the page, under where it says 'Michigan Forum' you will see the Message Board link.  There, you will find a New Topic button.  That will take you to post a new topic.

I recently just had my surgery but the fast is a recent memory.  I found that if I drank water like it was going out of style helped get over the hungries.  I also tried the rules of eating 3 times a day but doubled up in the morning and dinner time. The calorie  count was  7 to 9 00 may be  more on occassion.  Have to make some type of routine of it and the appetite  will  end.  did for me.
good luck..
