First, I am soooooooo sorry you are having difficulties. Now, by you saying to get a follow up plan in writing, what do you mean? I thought that after surgery, I would have to go back every so often to get checked by the surgeon. Is this true?
How are you feeling now? Have they agreed to see you at Barix??
That sortof scares me to know they aren't helping you now. I thought that if something does go wrong, I call the surgeon and I would go back to Barix in Yip for them to check me out. Or, do they want you to just see your local doctor after surgery?
Wish things were better for you!!
God Bless

The first week of June I had a severe case of the flu with excessive vomiting. I have not been able to eat solid foods, thick liquids, maybe, maybe not, clear liquids stay down most of the time, and gaining weight at the rate of 1-4 pounds per day, with no intake. I went to see my PCP and he wanted me to go back to Barix to be checked for damage to my pouch, such as a leak or rupture due to the vomiting. I went to the Bari surgeon where I work at and he also told me to go back to Barix because they did the original surgery. When I called to make the appointment I was told that I was wasting my time and that their doctors are surgeons and DO NOT see patients unless they require surgery. How do they know if someone requires surgery if the doctor does not seem them. She rudely scheduled me for July 20. I reminded her that I can not eat and gaining weight at supersonic speed. Her snide reply was that if I felt I could not wait that long to go to the local emergency room and demand to be admitted and they are not an emergency facility. I work at the local hospital, I have spoken with some of the doctors there and they also say if I came to them they would send me back to Barix. Before the flu, I was wearing a 14/16 jeans, now I wear sweat pants.
Nothing has changed, still no food, limited liquids, and rapid weight gain. From my postings on here I received a call from them.I will admit I was not pleasant to her, reminding her of everything her staff told me while trying to make the appointment. I tend to be a "little" cranky from having my head in a toilet for many hours a day. This stupid nausea and vomiting has even got me out of bed several times, it wakes you up very fast trying to make it to the bathroom. She really is trying to correct this situation. She stated that I did need to be seen and scheduled me for next tuesday. My biggest concern right now is why would I go out there for treatment when it took posting on a website to get to see a doctor. My paranoid feeling is that if I let them work on me after all the complaining, will I be sent home in a body bag? I really feel that as soon as the check cleared they locked the door. My PCP has done everything he can do from his level, but he is not a surgeon. I am still researching and looking for alternatives to try to stay away from there, unfortunately, I may be stuck going there because I am only running into brick walls.
I wish you well with your surgery, a speedy recovery and pray that you or anyone will never suffer like I am right now. And please get a plan in writing of how they handle situations that concern you. That leaves no room for misunderstanding. And watch out for Nurse Ratchett if she is still there on midnights, I promise her bark is worse than her bite, her grumpiness is really entertaining when you can not sleep.
Thank you for responding to me!! I am glad I can come here and know other's are out there willing to listen and help!!
I am hoping for a good experience!!
Sounds like you have had a good one there.
Good luck to you,
God Bless

I am so excited for you. Dr. Pop is amazing that is who I had. Which surgery are you considering? I had the RNY 5 weeks ago. I did not have any tubes in my nose when I woke up the only thing I had was the catheter. I was up walking within 4 hours of my surgery. I felt so good I went home the following day. Keep us posted and let me know when you are going. Take care.

Hi Aileen,
I had heard that Dr. Pop is a GREAT guy!! I am excited to meet him on Monday!! He kindof reminds me of Dr. Phil!! LOL
I am thinking the RNY is what I want to do. I have my worries and concerns, but I guess it's normal.
I am SOOOOOOOOOO glad you told me about the no tubes in my nose. (As you have seen by my posts, I am terrified to have that).
I am going to add you as a friend, ok? I want to ask you another question.
Take care,
God Bless
