Adult Picky Eaters
Did anyone see this special on Food Network?
I firmly believe that there are two kinds of overweight people: Those that love to eat EVERYTHING and those, like me, that can/will only eat a few things.
If you are one of the 'don't eat many foods' people, you know what I'm talking about. I have serious issues with what I will and won't eat.
It was nice to see other people that have the same problems with food that I do. Although, two out of three of the people featured were thin. Ugh! How do you stay thin when the only thing you will eat is bread??
Anyway, for those of you that think I'm bonkers when I post about stuff I won't eat, you should watch this show. If you have a DVR, you can search for picky eaters and find it. Then you won't think I'm so weird any more!!

I'm a very picky eater too, so is my sister (she's way worse then me though). I'll have to go and search for it.
I keep telling my husband that I really hope my tastes change after the surgery so I'll be able to have more variety of foods, but I have no faith with that one changing
Thanks for letting me know I'm not the only one out there.

Jenn,
Ok, this is not to scare or discourage you in any way...
My tastes did not change after surgery. I have to gag down most of what I eat during the day. Before surgery, I convinced myself that once I lost weight I would be able to make myself eat only healthy foods. Nope. I still try, but nothing has changed. I can't eat seafood, lunchmeat, pork, etc. Makes it kind of hard to get your protein in, huh??
Anyway, just make some lists of foods you do like that go along with the WLS way of eating. It will help you afterwards. Who knows, maybe your tastes will change. Have you found a protein shake you can drink yet? That's going to be the important thing!
Good luck to you!!

I haven't even thought of the protein shakes yet. I'm heading out this weekend to pick up a few different powders and samples if I can.
I know my fall back will be the Slim Fast Protein Shakes because I know I like them. When I was working I use to have one of these every morning for breakfast because I couldn't eat that early with out getting sick.
And no I'm not discouraged about your post, I figured as much that I still coudn't eat seafood and lunch meat. But still wishfull thinking .
I've been pulling recipes every where I can that would be good for afterwards.
Thank you!!

The Slim Fast Low Carb RTD shakes are better than the High Protein ones. I think it's 20g protein and just a couple grams of carbs/sugar. I keep a stash in the fridge for days when I don't feel like mixing up a shake from scratch.
My Recipe Index is packed full of yumminess!

The scale can measure the weight of my body but never my worth as a woman. ~Lysa TerKeurst author of Made to Crave
Here's a link to it, but it doesn't show the schedule. I'll check the DVR later to see if I can find when it will be on again.
It really has a lot more to do with phobias and kind of OCD behavior, rather than you just being picky. Pretty interesting stuff!

I am very Hypoglycemic and the Slim Fast Lo Carb work very good for me. I am almost 7 yrs out. My taste did change somewhat. Usually now when I have tried like a pc of chocolate...it just does not taste that good any more. My down fall is I crave crunchy and salty. I do not care for steak now, but that is a different story. Most meats are not appealing...but I can eat a plate of veggies..and fruit. I thin it might not be just your taste changes but your head changes...Wish I could use a remote and change mine again...I need some new foods....
