FEAR

I'm right there with you!  I got my surgery date...then freaked out.  It's something normal that everyone goes through with any kind of surgery.

Take some deep breaths, ask a ton of questions and realize you are doing it for you and the life you are going to have after all of it is done.   It will be just fine.

I'm with you on the fear/doubt etc.... I am 10 days away from my surgery and thinking the same way.  Yet it keeps coming back to I don't want to be like I am now.

I freaked out for a little after my appointment with the PA two weeks before my surgery.  He discussed in depth what they do to you outside of the surgery.  Catherter, drainage tubes, etc.  I am such a control freak that it freaked me out to know what they were going to do to me while I was under and had no control.  Other than than little freak out episiode, I was fine.  Excited actually since I saw this as a new beginning.

I went through it many times, especially the morning of surgery. I woke up in the middle of the night, terrified that within hours I was going to be having 85% of my stomach removed. I'm the type of person that is a worrier. I get anxiety over fairly small things, so as you can imagine having bariatric surgery was a whole other level.

But you know what? I went through with it. One of the things that got me through was thinking about how my life would change, for the better, because of the surgery. I thought of my health, I thought of all the things I want to do when I lose the weight, and I had the surgery. I would say to just keep thinking of why you're doing this. Don't think about the actual surgery, think about your motivation.
