DS on the 20th w/ Dr. Hares
Anyone wanna share hospital experience, what the first week was like? Good places to stay? I am driving from SW Michigan about 5 hours away depending on if I am driving or my hubby, and I have to stay the night before, as well as 2 days after my surgery in case anything arises.

Hi Emilie,
In the event you don't get a variety of input, it may be because Dr. Hares is the only surgeon in that practice qualified to perform the DS and tends to focus in this area (especially revisions from another WLS -to- a DS).... and not a lot of DSers hang out on the MI board! But, there are people that hang out on this forum that have had partners the same practice (St. John Weight Loss Center) that may be able to give you some insight. They just may not recognize the surgeon's name in your post, but may recognize the surgical practice name. Just a thought...
You will also find Hares patients on the DS Forum.
Two people that come to mind that recently had a DS with Hares (and you could PM) are:
Jodie -and- Donna
Jodie keeps an updated blog, and doesn't post a lot but I think she reads often.
Donna isn't as active, but is on OH occasionally and is really a nice lady.

Highest Known Weight = 370# / 59.7 bmi @ 5'6"
Current Weight = 168# / 26.4 bmi : fluctuates 5# either way @ 5'7" / more than 90% EWL
Normal BMI (24.9) = 159#: would have to compromise my muscle mass to get here without plastics, so this is not a goal.

You couldn't be in better hands! Jackie, Carol & Dr Hares are fantastic. Due to insurance issues I changed from Dr Hares to self pay out of the country . So I can't share hospital experiences BUT Dr Hares is my post-op physician. I've known Jackie for well of 12 years now. So trust her reccomendations.
