Sparrow Weight Management
I did the Optifast program with them. It was terrible and I failed miserably. I went to Grand Rapids for my surgery program and couldn't have been happier. In general, I think Sparrow is a terrible place for anything more complicated than a cold.
Grand Health Partners is an outstanding program and I highly recommend it to anyone who is concerned about their long-term success after WLS,

Well, I had been a bit concerned about the Opitfast, I had heard that they make you do that before you do the surgery and that it is out of pocket, something that I donot have the money for. I am going to go and hear what they have to say, I guess it can't hurt. I have been to Sparrow for several other things, childbirth, etc. and I have always had a good experience, but that is just my opinion.
I, too, am interested in opinions/experiences. I am generally not a Sparrow fan (Unless I am taking a kiddo to the pediatric ER) due to their huge volume of people.
Can we talk dollar amounts here?? When I called them, they told me that there are some fees and insurance may cover some and the others they won't, but wouldn't elaborate on the actual amounts.
I am not into wasting my time with some stupid informational thing if their out-of-pocket/up-front costs is out of my reach at this time. SO..let's talk actual DOLLARS.

It really makes me wonder what the "big secret is", ya know? I totally know what my insurance is...it is 80/20 with an out of pocket max of $1000 (which is awesome), butttttttt........tell me about the FEES the stupid organization is going to rip me for that my insurance WON'T pay for. Insurance pays for doc visits, etc.....so that leads me to believe there are extra things that an insurance company wouldn't deem to be "necessary".

Have you considered the Barix Clinic? There in Ypsilanti but I think they have a facility in Holland also. I am originally from the Lansing area but now live in the upper peninsula and I used the Ypslanti facility. It was pretty easy too. I had one consult with my surgeon. He gave me a list of everything I needed to do. I did everything local to where I live, submitted it all to them and had an approval in less than 2 days. From start to fini**** took me less than 2.5 months. My surgeon once worked at the Sparrow Weight Management group, not sure why he left there. If you have any questions feel free to ask. By the way my consult was free. Good luck Lori
