I could use a pick me up.  Friday my favorite cousin from Grand Rapids took his own life, shot himself in the head.  He was a prominent workers comp attorney, was fun loving and had many friends.  Yesterday was the memorial service and it was so hard.  Especially on my Uncle Bill who is 93 and for his sister Kathy.  We can't imagine why he would do something like that.  Kathy speculates that his cancer returned and he couldn't deal with it.  He had had a fall about three years ago and suffered a closed head injury and Kathy said he wasn't ever quite the same Tom after that.  We will never know.
I know our God is a forgiving God and hope he envelopes Tom in his arms and that Tom is at peace now.
I'm heading up to Interlochen shortly for a month.  I can use the peace and quiet up there right about now.
I probably won't be posting much from up there so I hope everyone has a wonderful July!

Jan,

I'm sorry to hear about your cousin.  It's so hard when someone takes their own life.  Those left behind struggle with so many questions that will never be answered.

You will be in my prayers,

Jan,
I'm so sorry to hear about your cousin.  My cousin did the same thing during his fathers memorial service.  All the unanswered questions are the hardest to deal with . . especially for the people left behind.

I hope you find some peace on your vacation.
I'll be thinking about you.

Jan, I am so saddened to hear of your cousin's passing.  We never know why ppl take their own lives....trusting that God will forgive him and take him home to heaven where he will find peace.

Have a restful and peaceful time at Interlochen.....our sermon last Sunday was on the theme "Sit quietly and wait upon the Lord".....certainly applies.

My best to you
Hugs,
Pat R.

Jan, I am so sorry to hear about your loss.  I hope you aren't spending too much time feeling guilty or wondering what you might have done differently to help.

I am guessing your cousin was in such despair that he couldn't see any other options to end his suffering.  I believe that he is in a better place and that a loving God would understand that your cousin was in despair and irrational at the time of his action, and that his suffering will be eased and he will be at peace.  i hope you are also at peace.
