Dr. Pleatman at Harper Hospital
Hi,
I don't know anything about Dr. Pleatman but I do know about Harper Hospital. I worked there for almost 17 years and it's where I had my surgery. I was on a unit solely dedicated to bariatric surgery patients and although I've heard of different experiences from other people, my experience was fine. The nurses were all very attentive and friendly, I did not feel that I had to wait a long time to be answered when I buzzed for them, and my room was very clean and nicely furnished. When I was there (3 years ago) all of the bariatric surgery rooms were private which was great.
Good luck to you.
Karen

I'm having VSG surgery with Dr. Pleatman, but they never mentioned Harper Hospital as one of the places where he works. I was told POH and Doctor's Hopsital, both in Pontiac, were the choices. But maybe it's different for RNY.
Obviously I'm preop, so I don't have too much to say about him. Just that if you want someone who is very blunt and straight-forward, you'll like him. If you want someone really positive and encouraging, you probably want to look elsewhere.

I do believe Dr. Pleatman cares a lot about his patients. But, as libguy wrote, he is very straightforward and blunt. I appreciate his honesty, though. And I like that he is very knowledgeable, but when he isn't sure about an answer to your question, he doesn't make it up like some "know it all" doctors.
I had my surgery at Doctor's Hospital. It was okay. I was self-pay, so that was my cheapest option. The nurses were nice, but sometimes a little clueless about what type of surgery I had had.
