I LOVE THE HAZY DAYS OF SUMMER!!!  This is my kind of weather!  Yesterday, hubby got the pool open....just in time.  It was our intention to have it opened in May, but well, that plan flew out the window!  But it's open now, which is good, but I am going stir-crazy being home all the time, kinda stuck in the house!  At least now, we can get out on the deck and enjoy the pool.  We even have a little pop-up tent type thing for the baby that is UV rated!  So we are set!

Later today, I'm heading to Ann Arbor with my mom for her neurology appt.  Hubby is at his PT with his dad.  Our days are filled with doctor's appoinments and physical therapy appointments this week.  Tomorrow, though, we are getting "DUB'S" one month pictures taken!  Still trying to find that perfect, cute little outfit for him to wear.

QOTD:  Well, for me, ethnic food always seems to mean SPICY OR HOT!!!  As long as it's not spicy or hot, I am usually ok with it.  I also have a problem with food textures, so it's hard to eat some ethnic foods that I'm just not used to, texture wise.  Some food textures have even made me vomit before!  I know it's all in my head.  I do like Mexican food, if it's not HOT or SPICY but anytime I've had "authentic" mexican, I've gotten violently ill.  Something in it just doesn't like me.  But I can eat tacos and things like that made at home...generic type stuff.  I like some chinese foods, too, but can't really eat them that well since surgery.

Morning All!

I'm drinking decaf with a shot of protein. lol

QOTD ~ Does soul food count as a ethnic food? It is the best to me but probably how I became overweight. I love turnip greens, yams, homeade mac/cheese, backed beans................ok never mind...........I'm hungry.

Have a great day!
When nothing else could help................LOVE lifted me!!!!

My mom always sings the "lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer"  song. . . so I remember it well!
I'm on days so getting out at 3:30 was a real treat yesterday - I got so much done . .  it was nice at the end of the evening to just sit on the porch and enjoy the summer.
I made a protein fruit smoothie this morning but am now drinking water  - forgot my lunch so will be heading to subway for lunch later.
QOTD- I'm very boring now - before it would have been Italian food, now I can't do spicy food or much meat so I have to say Mexican I love the beans.
Try to stay cool!

I see many people posting about loving the beans and eating them for breakfast.  Which type of refried beans out of the can do you find the tastiest?  Certain ones are really kind of bland.  I love them at a Mexican Restaurant.

I get all kinds of refried beans at the store.  I think there are some brands that have lard in them (a lot of the mexican places make them this way) but the typical ones don't have it.  The vegitarian versions don't have animal fat in them, but they are pretty bland.

I season my beans (usually refried black) like you would taco meat.  Add some chili powder and cumin, onion, and garlic.  To me, it tastes just like a taco.  When I was cleared for regular foods, I ate a taco salad every single day with seasoned beans, lettuce, cheese, salsa, and ff sour cream.  I have gotten lazy....I should start making those again!

I fix my beans like Brenda but I put cheese on them and put them under the broiler . . . oh so yummy!
No I see my family Dr for the last time on Thursday afternoon and then I should have a date for a Doc down at Henry Ford - I'll keep you posted . .  I'm more than ready but don't think it will happen much before Sept ember or October.

I am drinking water today  I still need to get to the store for some tea for my caffeine fix.
I Think  I am going out to mow this am while it is cooler so hubby don't have to after a 10 hr work shift.  It doesn't bother me quite so much with my allergies any more  and it is good exercise.
QOTD  I think Oriental food is my favorite ethnic food.  I do like some Italian  but like the full butter and cream versions so that is a once a year treat.
Have a great day everyone and don't melt!
