Roll out those lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer!
Remember that song? Sure is starting out hazy this morning. Will be a steamer. First 90 degree day of 2009. Going to get the doggies out early this morning for a walk, then mow the yard. Will head out to the fruit farm after and get a flat of strawberries for some jam.
Right now having the morning cup of java-decaf and black. What's brewing in yours this AM?
QOTD-What is your favorite ethnic food? I've read some postings about Polish food at Polish village (where is that?) My favorite ethnic food is German because of my heritage. I love sauerbraten, even though it's not really band friendly (gets stuck easy no matter how much you chew). Spatzle is the best and I make it fresh as it is SO expensive to buy the box and it costs pennies to make fresh. I do love other ethnic foods-Mexican and Asian....
Well, have a good one and stay cool.

Morning!!

I am up early so I can catch up on my Army Wives episdode from Sunday night.... Today is my last day of work before our vacation that starts tomorrow... We are heading up north to stay at a cabin with friends for a couple of days then heading over to Harrison to stay with my Mom for a night. I am excited to go up to relax and then to stop and see her.

QOTD: I have many favorites but I think it depends on the restuarant.. I love the thai food at the restaurant around the corner.... then I love the food at PF Changs.... But all in all I love mexican food probably the most... I used to live in Detroit near mexican village and the food is always soooo good there.

Have a great day everyone!

Good morning, Michigan.  The weather was perfect last evening-I sat outside on the patio for the longest time, took the dog for a ride and a walk, just couldn't get enough of the weather.

I love Mexican food-cheese enchiladas, nachos, refried beans.  Also love egg foo young, and spinach pie and lasagna...... Like Randy said, since we eat such small quantities, it is great to have anything with a real burst of flavor.

Chai protien tea for breakfast again today.  It's becoming a habit.  Well, I ticked off my DIL, the one that's prego, this past weekend.  She was talking about names for the baby I I told her I didn't like the boy's name she picked out.  It doesn't flow when you say it with our last name.  Then I said I'd just call him Bubba or something if he's a boy.  Grandma's can call their grandbabies anything they want.  Well, evidently she took that I was being nasty and said something to my son.  He then proceeded to call me from Niagara Falls and let me know that it wasn't nice for me to say "I'll call him what ever the hell I want to call him"  I never said that, and it wasn't my intent at all to start something.  Don't grandma's always have pet names for their grands?  My brother was called Punky by the whole family because my Grandma called him that when he was a baby.  To this day he i***** to me and not George.  Geez, I'm going to have to be more careful about giving my opinion or I'll never get my hands on this new grandbaby.  Now I almost hope it's a girl. (I do like the girl name, Olivia, but I'll call her Livvy).

QOTD:  I love Polish (Polish Village Cafe is in Hamtramck) Chinese/Thai, Mexican, MidEastern (certain foods) and Italian.  Oh and southern cooking.  Actually, there's not much I don't like.  I didn't get to be in this predicament by being a picky eater

It is what it is.

We named Western after my mother in law's father.  She didn't want us to (even though all of her other siblings and hubby's cousins loved the idea) and at one point said, " Well, we just can't name him Western."  I just looked at her and said, "We?  Sorry, but you don't get a say in this one!"  But it was all good-natured.  She says she can't call him that and still calls him "Dub", but then so do we.  LOL!  We're trying to call him Western, but Dub just stuck!

Now, I don't know your DIL, but I just want to say, I WAS TOTALLY NOT PREPARED FOR THE EMOTIONAL UPHEAVAL THAT PREGNANCY BROUGHT ON!!! So, maybe she's just a bit overly sensitive right now.

Hopefully, after the baby comes, she'll just forget all that "stuff".  I know I did...nothing mattered once he was here!

My son said "Mom, you have to remember, Jess is sooo hormonal these days, she takes everything to heart"  The conversation was on the light side and I didn't mean any harm...  I like unusual names.  I won't tell you the name because I don't want to offend anyone else.  I don't not like the name, it just doesn't go well with our last name.  See, Dub is a cute pet name.  How did that come about?  I know people that call their little one's Pea because that's what they looked like on the original ultrasound.
Hopefully Jess will forget all about my silly comment and forgive me.

We credit DUB to Brenda!  It started out as Baby Watkins, then Baby W...and finally it just became BABY DUB.  But we love it.  I call him everything, though....sweet-pea, sweety-pie, bug, dubby, bean..lol!

Ohhhhhhhhhh, finally I get it.  Dub for 'W'.  Takes me quite a while to figure some things out.:)
Do you think I'll get forgiven?

I just thought it was a cut little made up nick name.  Like the grandson is pickle. His older brother named him when he was told he was going to be a big brother.  Duh am I slow.
