How is it that pre surgery stuff I was going along and eating whatever whenever and basically maintained my weight. Not a good weight and it seemed impossible to lose but at least I maintained.  Now I  eat small protien only for breakfast lunch and dinner snack on sugar free jello or SF popsicles and I'm still just barely losing any weight. I'm easily under 1000 calories a day and no carbs whatsoever and since surgery on 5-19-09 I've only lost ten pounds! Ijust don't get it???  anyone with the answer ??  Advice??

What's your exercise like?  There's two components to weight loss: less calories in and more activities.  Food is fuel and unless you're burning more than you're taking in you will not lose weight.  So, it is possible that you're taking in considerably less calories but unless you're burning them you're gonna be at the same weight.
Here's something to think about -- when was the last time you lost 10 lbs in a month?  That's not an insignificant amount of weight loss
Good luck

Because your body feels like you are starving it, so it is holding on to every ounce it can for survival.

It is a delicate balance to get enough in that your body won't hold on, or worse shut some vital things down in order to save itself, and allow some weight loss.  A lot of times weight loss comes in spurts.  You will lose a chunk, and then your body needs to adjust some to the new situation.

Also, hydration is a big key!!  Make sure you are really getting in all the fluids you were told to and then double it!

too true it IS very delicate! I am drinking alot. I am exercising. I have recently read alot of posts like mine so I gather it is a matter of waiting it out. thanks to all who have answered, it helps.I really thought it was a simple math problem. Less in = less weight --not so simple.
