Hi Katie,
My best to you tomorrow as you begin your journey! Many thoughts and prayers to you. The thing I will recommend to bring is an I-pod. I brought my I-pod with me when I had my WLS and it really helped me relax so much better. I could listen to my music and "zone" out. It really helped manage the discomfort.
I know this sounds a little odd, but it certainly helped me...
Best wishes

Hey there.....it's almost your time!
I suggest slippers that you can walk around in. You will need to get up and around and I wore the slipper/socks they give you in the hospital to keep my feet warm in bed. You don't want to walk the halls and then get back in to bed with those on. Ick.
I brought a pony tail holder, because my hair drives me crazy if it's in myface......chapstick.....and some good smelling lotion (just a small bottle). I was there for two days and I got sick of smelling the hospital smell. A few times a day I would put on some lavender lotion and it helped me from feeling like I was someplace surrounded by sick people.
I second the Ipod or earplugs too. The roommate I had after plastics laid in bed and moaned for 12 straight hours. It was torture.
Also, if you want to bring any flavored water mix ins you can. I had the choice of plain apple juice or water. I watned something different.
Remember to smile as they put the mask on you with the sleepy gas. Look around the room and congratulate yourself for doing something for yourself and your health.

I called to wish you well. I'm glad you asked the question about what to bring. I knew the chapstick and slippers, but actually never thought about the iPod. I just downloaded a bunch of music today (with my DIL's help) Hope you're all ready to go and are sitting down drinking white wine, hey, it's liquid right?
I'll be thinking of you tomorrow and praying that you and the surgeon have a restful night tonight and a productive day tomorrow.
