I had a VSG through Foote on Dec 23rd last year...He mentioned that if it failed I had the option of gettting DS, but I just consider that an option. I agree with the lady (sorry I blanked on your name) who is a Kemmeter patient and said to consider a ton of things beforehand. You HAVE TO make sure that you are ready for a big change. I have had almost no problems, but I am also VERY careful to obtain follow-up in and out of the dr's office, as well as, making sure I knew my bad habits going in and using this "tool" as a way to alter my habits for the better. I was a serious yo-yo dieter and binge eater, but I am seeing SOOO much change in myself, but that is due to education beforehand, not just the magic of surgery. I wish you the best of luck, you sound like you are doing what you can with what you have...
One last word of advice on taking advice...lol...be careful to weigh all opinions (even mine)...not many people here went to med school and there is lots of opinion given...Just remember that you need to trust your surgeon, its like a marriage...If you are second guessing things your surgeon is saying, then maybe you should end the relationship and seek another that you trust...This is your body, your life, so make it count and jump in--eyes wide open...
