Good News from the Dr today

They have the results of my MRI and EMT from last week.

Bad news is I do have some nerve damage.  My doc said it is minor and I should be able to live with it.

Good news is my MRI shows that I have a bulging disk pressing on my nerve bundle.   Its not a rupture or deteriorating disk like they first thought.  I have a prescription to help the inflatmation of the nerve and 4-6 weeks of traction therapy for my back to see if they can get the disc back into place and tension off my nerve.

He wants me to continue walking and stretching my back out at work, which means he wants me laying on my office floor about 30 minutes during the day to take pressure off.   And then when I get home in the evening.  More or less for every 4-6 hours of sitting or being on my feet he wants me to day down for 30 minutes.

He also said getting down to my goal weight will help too.

Thanks to everyones thoughts and prayers over the last few weeks.  They are greatly appreciated.

Pam

That is good news Pam, at least you've got a chance of getting it all under control.  My hubby has 5 herniated disks, he's been in PT for a while now, it does help, we'll just have to see how well/long it lasts.  He's also had 3 cortisone shots, those have helped him too.

Good luck,

Edie

It's kind of difficulty to see laying on the floor for 30 minutes as "good news"  but considering the alternatives it really is great news!   I wish you well

Glad you got your news.  Hopefully the PT will help.  I think traction therapy feels
sooooo good.  hopefully the disc will fall back into place and pain will be gone!

Pam - that is good news!!  Just like in kindergarten you can take your 'mat' to work and lay down on the floor for a little rest time :-)

Yay!   Physician authorized nap time at work!!!

Seriously, though, I'm glad you got some answers.  I know it can be tough keeping up the house and mom duties when you aren't 100%.  We'll keep praying for a fast recovery.
