He is a religious fanatic, which works well for some in the G.R. area, I am sure, but not everyone here is so overboard zealous as he is. From personal experience, and from what others have told me first hand, he intimidates you into believing that you will not pass your pysch exam because your basis for support post-op WLS is not grounded in faith. The ENTIRE session I had with him was inappropriate and intimidating. His office was filled with christian religious objects and passages from the bible. I was assured by the practice manager (2 years ago) that it would be dealt with and the religious shrine would be removed, but I have been told countless times since than that it is all still status quo.

Highest Known Weight = 370# / 59.7 bmi @ 5'6"
Current Weight = 168# / 26.4 bmi : fluctuates 5# either way @ 5'7" / more than 90% EWL
Normal BMI (24.9) = 159#: would have to compromise my muscle mass to get here without plastics, so this is not a goal.

Oh a side note...interesting that Nancy knows so much about DS - maybe that is why I didn't feel I got as much out of my 6 month with her as I do with the other PA's. I'm not her specialty! ha ha
Hummm, maybe I should go back and see Scott -- and he can see that I managed to lose 190# without his kind of support?!
Actually, Nancy doesn't know that much about the DS, but she is the least likely to provide dangerous advice to a DSer. For every DSer she sees, I am sure she sees at least 100 RnYers & 100 GBers (along with some VSGers). She isn't as *fun* as Matt & Todd, and doesn't have that connection because she doesn't go into surgery with you, but is the best we DSers can hope for right now! We DSers are few & far between, so to truly stay healthy we have to avoid most of what the medical community advises of us and follow those that have persevered to get answers and stay healthy. It isn't limited to GHP; it is pretty much the norm, unless you go to one of the top bariatric surgeons in the country (Rabkin, Husted, Gagner, Buchwald....) and interact directly with them for your aftercare (which is another gripe of mine with GHP, but I won't go into all that now....!!).
Just ask for who you want to see for your 1 year. You might as well enjoy the experience!

Sorry, bad joke. Couldn't resist!

At my 1 year check up, I opted out of the nut and the shrink because i didn't have the money to pay for them. i wasn't aware that that refund check i got from MMPC was for that.....well, i kind of knew that might happen, but i need that money for protien (ie steaks) So i only meet with Todd and then i left. And i don't think i missed out on much.
I remember Scott gave me **** for saying i related more to Buddism then Christianity, that rubbed me the wrong way. I also remember his "shrine" and that stuff just turns me off. I don't need your beliefs forced down my throat.....Its great that you have your beliefs.....let me have mine. But that's all i can say about that.
the new office sure is fancy though!
