Has anyone ever had their surgeon tell them to lose say 20 pounds , and cancel the sugery because they didnt accomplish that?

Yes, you should post this to the main board.  I have seen several posts regarding this and some who actually couldn't have the surgery (postponed) because they didn't loose the weight required.  Its for your safety.

I had to lose 10% of my body weight for them to do sugery.  I was a bit under, and my doc gave me a good scolding.  From what I understand, some won't do it at all if you don't meet their requirements.  That goes with the liquid diet plan that you have to follow.  My secretary was told that they would do blood work before her surgery that could tell if she had followed the liquid diet or not.  Not sure how that works, but it was enough to scare her into doing it.

We were told, in the group orientation meetings,  we were to lose weight preop or surgery could be cancelled but I wasn't told it had to be 20 pounds.  I think Dr. Baker told me  10-20 pounds, but I wasn't as big as some people are to begin with so it probably varies.
Jeremiah 29:11-13 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.  Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you.  And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.

I wasn't told I had to lose anything before but, the NUT gave me a scolding when I gained 1 pound from the time I had seen the surgery.  I had gone thru the Holidays and a 10 day cruise so, I was happy with the results.

They told this to a lady going thru the pre-op testing with me.  I wasn't told it.  Not sure what they look for but, they did take a urine and blood sample when I got to the hospital.
