Good morning all!

Enjoying my fake latte this morning.  I skipped coffee yesterday and I was dragging butt all day ... so hope today is better.

QOTD -- I also vote for the beach!!!  In fact, that's why I decided my exercise goal for this year would be "Traveling Race Mania" --- I'm commited to doing 2 races per month (5k, 10k, half marathon, whatever) but at least one of those races needs to be somewhere in Michigan that's near a beach.  So that after the race I can grab my beach chair and spend the day with my toes in the sand.  Of course the races in March-May weren't exactly beach worthy, but now that its summer, the beach thing is a priority.

I just picked up a flyer for the Cherry Fest races at my last race!  It is definitely in contention for one of my July races!  I love Traverse  City!  And doing the race would give me an excellent excuse to eat cherries too.  :-)

Morning all,

Had my shake and will start my iced tea soon!

Q:  Everything....flowers, the smell of cut grass (why is it when I'm cutting my grass I don't smell it, but when someone else does I do????, my friend and I were discussing that the other day, same thing happens to her, we both have riding mowers and a few acres, anybody want to venture a guess on that??), sitting outside having a ****tail listening to the birds, walking in the park.....oh so many things.

Hope everyone enjoys the sunshine today.

Here's my take on the smelling of one's own mowed grass...because....well, I've thought about this too.  I think that while you are mowing, you are saturated with the smell so you may smell it a bit initially, but as you continue to mow, you get used to the smell and don't smell it, even though it's still there.  But when somebody else mows, you get the wafting odor and aren't really overcome with the smell, so you smell it more.  LOL!  Make sense?  It's kinda like when you are at home.  Everyone's home has a "smell" (not bad, but just we all have our own odors).  Anyway, you don't notice it because it's where you live.  This happened to me while I was at the hospital.  Wasn't home for so long, but when we came home, I could really smell "home" and it was good (even though it sometimes just smells like DOG to me...LOL)!

There you have it...my analysis for the day....right or wrong...LOL!

Sounds like a good answer to me.  Especially when you compared it to house smells, it's like when your cooking something w/ garlic, at first you smell it then it fades from your nose, but as others come in your house their overwhelmed at first too!

Good job Tina,

Edie

btw, my house prob. smells like dog too!....buy now that I think of it, yours prob smells more like baby now!!  mmmmmm, nothing like baby smells, ok a stinky diaper just popped in my brain, but I guess the saying of nothing smelling like a baby is still true LOL!

Tina,

You are right, it is called sensory adaption, I learned about itin one of my psych classes  when I was going to college. Thus, it made perfect sense to me.

I have had a bit of coffee this AM, showered and even started some laundry!  Western is sleeping peacefully in the living room in the pack and play.  I ACTUALLY put him down!  We are waiting for visitors....Bee and Rob should be here shortly.  As soon as he wakes up, he's getting a bath!  I can't believe he is already 8 days old!  Here's a small dose of DUB....

QOTD:  I LIVE FOR SUMMER!  If I could, I would move to Florida or anywhere warmer.  Sunshine and hot, humid weather are my faves (as long as I can get some relief in some water and A/C).   Michigan summers are getting progressively shorter and cooler, in my opinion!   I have a pool, which we hope to get open soon.  Plus we have boats.  We keep a couple dock spaces in Hillsdale on the lake that I practically grew up on.  When we lived in Hillsdale, we spent the weekends on the lake with family.  We miss that, but we try to get down there as often as possible, through the summer, to spend a weekend on the lake.  We have a 34 foot camper that we keep at my inlaws, on their back barn lot, in Hillsdale, too.  It's our little refuge!  It may become our permanent living quarters, if my hubby isn't able to return to work!  We shall see.....

Enjoy the day!  Tina
