Good morning, everyone.  I'm still here....passing time, as they are slowly inducing me.  Starting to feel more contractions, so things are progressing.

Not much brewing here, by way of coffee.  I had my "liquid" breakfast this AM, which consisted of jello, popsicle, chicken broth, and decaf coffee.  At least last night at 1AM, they gave me an hour break from the meds and let me have a meal.  I had a turkey sandwich and some other stuff.  It was good...at least got rid of my headache.

QOTD: I've had a lot of family members in the service.  Most of my uncles were either Army or Air Force.  My hubby's grandpa is an Army WWII vet.  He fought in the Battle of the Bulge.  He also has an uncle that is an Army Vietnam Vet.  My dad was in the Navy during Vietnam, but spent those years on a ship in Japan.  I have 2 cousins in the Marines and both spent about a year in Afghanistan.  I have another cousin who is in the Army.  He's done 2 tours in Iraq.  He then went to Afghanistan and just returned from there in March.  He and his family are getting ready to transfer to Germany, soon.  My hubby was in the regular Army for 4 years.  He was in the 82nd Airborne and is a Desert Storm vet.  After the regular Army, he spent 9 years in the National Guard in the only airborne unit in Michigan.

And yes, Brenda and I were in NC at the same time, but never knew each other then.  However, we figured out that she used to come into the McDonald's that I worked at!  Would've been cool if we had known each other, then, too.

Think baby thoughts....I am hoping that the 3 of us will GO HOME TOGETHER ON THURSDAY...AJ's discharge date.

The inducing started yesterday.  Long, slow process.  Which is fine.  We're both doing fine, but my docs thought it best that we induce as there are signs that the placenta is "wearing" out.  If we wait it out, other problems could arise.  So they felt it best to get him out, since I'm so close to my due date and he's doing well, despite the placenta thing.

So, here I sit.  LOL!  AJ is able to be here with me, although he goes back to his room for meals and meds and naps, occasionally.

So, we just wait.

Tina,
You are being very wise deciding to be induced. A "tired" placenta is not what you want to deal with so late into your pregnancy.... We all want you to have a healthy little one.
Have they started Pitocin yet?
The hurry-up-and-wait is the hardest part.
We are all here for you and thinking "healthy baby."
Hang in there, Tina!!!!!

No, pitocin, yet.  I think they will later today as the other meds appear to be working.  Won't know for sure how well they are working until my check around 3.  So...more waiting.

Good Morning and Happy Memorial Day everyone!

QOTD:  My step father (deceased) was in the Navy for most of his life and also was in WW2.

I also have a good friend, Mark, in Grand Rapids that was in Iraq for a 2 year tour of duty about three years ago, finally got home about a year ago and only one member of his company was injured.  He is now retired from the Guard and happily home with his wife and 2 young children.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Happy Memorial Day all. QOTD My dad was a WWII vet.

But here is a more recent vet story. It happened up in Frankenmuth this weekend. I was there as part of the ballooning event that went on... (And Shannon there was a TON of dogs there for Doggie Bowl it was a blast.)

Any way.. Yesterday afternoon I was hanging out up town, spending money of course, when I stopped at the south end of the Bavarian Inn. There was a man & women playing music, polka type music and several seniors were dancing. It was fun to watch. THEN.. this woman got up on the dance floor alone. She was nothing outstanding to look at. In fact rather more on the typical matronly looking type person. Other dancers were dressed in "church clothes". She was wearing brown polyester pants, a print blouse and black "old lady" shoes, you know the kind that Dr Scholll's makes..  Very plain, functional and certainly not flattering.

She stood at the edge of that dance floor with a slight grin on her face and started to tap her feet. I thought to myself, "Oh my I wonder if she has one beer too many. I sure hope she doesn't make a spectacle of herself in front of all these people."  The crowd seemed to be thinking the same thing as it seemed to get a little quiter.. THEN her husband who was wearing a US Coast Guard cap came onto the dance floor in his wheelchair.  Well gang they danced. He did wheelies. She swung around him and they smiled. And we, the disdainful crowd, after swallowing our shame smiled too. In fact I smiled and cried at the same time. It was so touching to see. They were so happy and having so much fun. In fact they danced 2 dances. I was so ashamed of my initial thoughts,.. These 2 people made my day! When they finished I saw I was not the only one wiping my eyes. AND they were given a standing ovation.

So when the singers took their break I walked over to them and thanked them. Then I asked the gentleman if he had served. He said yes in the early 60's. He humbly said "It was nothing. I served during peace time. " I then told him it did not matter when he served. Just that he did indeed serve his country. I shook both their hands and thanked them for making my day.

I walked away a changed person. As I was reminded of that old addage. NEVER judge a book by it's cover. I didn't get their names, and I assume the gentleman is wheelchair bound due to age and not his military service. They were great and reminded me what life is all about. That is making the best of what we have.

God bless them, and all of you.

Happy Memorial Day.
