Has anyone used this before in there soups? I'm trying to plan ahead for what I will need after surgery and was wondering if I should get some. I saw that meijers has Genisoy unflavored protein powder, which has no carbs.

I used the beneprotein.  It is unflavored, and I did not find it to really change the texture.

Unjury makes an unflavored protein as well- As far as using in soups- most give instructions what temperature you can heat to without it making a difference in the consistancy. I have used the Unjury unflavored a few times- Try to remember that after surgery your likings will change- I liked chocolate and strawberry protein prior to surgery but couldn't stand the stuff after. A good rule is to not stock up on too many itmes because you might not like them afterward.
best of luck to you.

I also get an unflavored protein from GNC.  Its a Whey Protein.  But, like Amy said, you have to be careful when you add to hot items.  The temperature shouldn't be over 130 degrees or it will cause the protein to clump (this applies to all protein powder) and gets an overall nasty consistency...

There is one protein powder made to be used in baking/cooking even.  It's by Optimum Nutrition and it's called "Any Whey."  It's unflavored.  I have some but don't really bake with it or anything, so I'm not sure if it makes the food yucky.  But the taste is pretty well hidden in most of the things I've tried it in (soups, shakes, etc.).

You can bake with AnyWhey, you just have to follow the directions included with the package, as the recipes have been adapted just for that product.

One thing to remember when baking or making recipes with protein powder:  Be sure to check the serving size.  If you are adding one scoop of powder to a recipe that has 10 servings, you are only getting 1.7g of protein per item.  That's hardly worth the calories or the trouble to make it.

AnyWhey does have a "smell" to it, almost vanilla or almond....at least that's what I've found.  I had no problems using it in sweet drinks, like yogurt smoothies or hot cocoa.

You shouldn't cook with it or mix it into very hot things like coffee or soups above 130.  It will cause the protein to break down and at that point it's useless.

Why does the Any Whey protein say that you can? (I'm totally clueless as to why so I hope someone knows).
