Tuesday Morning Coffee
Good Tuesday Morning!
Looks like we are in an upswing for warmer weather for this first summer holiday weekend. The cooler weather has made the fragrant lilacs last a little longer.
Plans for the holiday? I'm assuming that Randy is going camping this weekend! We always head for the big dog show at the fairgrounds as we love seeing all the different breeds.
What's brewing in your cup? Mine is the usual decaf and black.
Getting ready to go to Chicago in awhile. Brenda, you have to go there sometime. It is a great place for everything-museums, shopping, food, theater......
Love Chicago style hot dogs. Has peppers, onions and celery salt. Good
QOTD-A light weight question, but it goes along with the upcoming holiday weekend. What's on your hotdog? Mine, at home, are mustard and sweet pickle relish.... So good
Well, see everyone in a couple of days....
Deb
I am not drinking anything yet just getting my eyes opened before getting ready for work. I only have to work a half a day today and then my DH and I are heading out to the Henry Ford Estate for a tour. We have been wanting to go there for years and never made it.. We got free passes through the library and are taking full advantage of it. This week he is off for a mandatory leave. Have to love what the economy is doing to people ya know? We get 5 of them this year and they stink.
This weekend we are thinking of heading up to DTE for the Eddie Money concert on Friday, working around the house, having friends over one night for dinner, and then probably head over to family's house on Sunday for a BBQ for my niece's 12th birthday.
QOTD: I love Koegels hot dogs I think they taste the *******ike chili, onions and mustard on mine.... My DH actually does eat peanut butter on hot dogs sometimes.. I am pretty common on mine but he is the strange one! LOL
Have a great day everyone and enjoy the weather!

Hi Deb , No we are staying home this weekend , My sister and brother in law our coming up to see us ... Do some fishing and setting around our fire in the back yard... Like being gone and still home...
have a great weekend everyone ....get outside and have fun in your new life's
I'm at work, drinking my water. And yes, I did get my 5 servings in yesterday! Woohoo!
I can't believe that my answer to the hot dog question is going to be so involved, but it is. At home, I only eat Kowalski natural casing dogs. My favorite is plain dog with cheese and bacon, but obviously that is a rare treat. When I'm out and have one, like at a coney, etc. I get chili and sliced dill pickles on it every time. Not much of a fan of the other condiments. My mom used to take us to the snack bar at Kmart on Saturdays to get a hotdog with chili and butterscotch pudding. Sounds like a weird combo but we loved it!
Hope you all have a good day!
As for hot dogs, I love mine with mustard, chili and onions-you can never have too many onions. But since I can no longer eat the bun, I have to content myself with dipping my dogs in mustard and eating like a toddler. But i promise I use a fork and not my fingers!
I actually remembered to bring my packed lunch today (yesterday's got forgotten on the table next to the door). I'm drinking my fake latte and going over my to-do list for the day. Looks like I'll be designing some Brooksie Way materials and doing more dictation. My one boss is getting ready to go to Spain later this week so he's trying to clear his desk... which means it all gets dumped over here. :-)
QOTD -- hotdogs. I actually prefer brats. But on the hotdog it's first got to be grilled and crispy (just shy of burnt). Then I like the works... ketchup, mustard, dill pickles and onions. On my brat it's just spicy mustard and dill relish though.
EDITED QOTD -- I just remembered A&W's coney dogs!! I worked at A&W in Bay City for 3 years in high school. They have to most amazing coney dogs! The sauce is homemade every day and isn't the crap sauce like Detroit coneys - this stuff is like heaven on a dog. So every year I MUST get a coney with cheese, extra extra sauce and onions. My yearly coney for 2009 was had last week. I skipped most of the bun and could only eat about 2/3 of the dog... but that sauce was so good!
Have a good trip to Chicago Deb!

I am sitting at my desk right now eating strawberries with Splenda and really looking forward to my other morning snack of Triscuits and cottage cheese. I remembered what I used to order at A&W. I would go through the drive-thru and get a coney, a cheeseburger, onion rings, and cheese curds to eat on the way home. Of course topped off by a diet root beer cooler.
I guess it doesn't really hit you how much things have changed after surgery until you remember what you used to eat. How did I think that it was ok to eat like that all the time??? I'm so glad that now I could happily go in to A&W and get a little taste of something and be ok with it.

Finished my decaf with chocolate/carmel protein powder. Now moving on to water.
Hot Dogs? Love Koegels, and the Flint Style Coneys. There is a new greek restaurant here that has both the Flint Style and Detroit Style coneys. If I can't have a coney, its ketchup, mustard, onions and relish. For some reason I only eat mustard on hot dogs. Don't care fori t on hamburgs, etc. Since I don't eat the bun anymore, I cut it up and mix it all up together!
The weekend will probably be spent working in the yard and one of the days, visiting with friends at their cottage. Since the weather is supposed to be nice, defintely one of the days hopping on the motorcycles and heading out for a day long ride!
