Anyone have their surgery done in Lansing Area?

I am new to this and am considering having Lap RNY done. I got a referal to a dr in Grand Rapids but I think it would be difficult to make that drive so frequently with two little ones (9 months and 2 (almost 3) ) Any recommendations? Where to start? I've been following on here for awhile and am currently doing WW but am considering doing RNY. Anything you can tell me would be great! I do have an appt w/ my PCP tomorrow AM.

I am in Lansing, but I had my surgery in Grand Rapids and my Dr. was Dr. Foote. I knew people that had it in Grand Rapids and I didn't know anyone that had it in Lansing so I chose to have it there. If you have any questions just send me a message.

I don't believe that there is a bariatric Center of Excellence in Lansing, which was a requirement of my insurance company (Blue Care Network), so I ended up going to Grand Health Partners.  I loved my surgeon, Dr. Kemmeter, and have had a very easy recovery. 

If you aren't required to go through a Center of Excellence, there are at least two programs in Lansing.  The best known one is through Sparrow's weight management program.  I think there are also two women bariatric surgeons who work together - they were affiliated with Ingham, but if I recall correctly, they have a different practice now.  I remember at least one person on here who had their WLS done by one of those women surgeons.

Thanks! yeah I found the two women here Dr. Lane and Dr. Richardson I couldn't remember their names but my Dr gave me the info. I've heard good things about them I don't know what my insurance requires that. I have BCBS of MI I'm going to a seminar on Tuesday about it.

I had my surgery with Dr. Yenumula at Sparrow.  My eldest dtr had the lapband done with Dr. Yenumula also.  I have lost, since pre-op over 145# and my dtr since her lapband in Sept. 08 has lost 43#.  Sparrow is in process of getting their center of excellence certification.  Very good program.
