Hump Day Coffee
Good Morning Michiganders!
What's brewing this morning in your cup? Up early with the decaf coffee this morning. Heading over to the gym in a little bit for a great cardio-sculpt class. Erin, the instructor, always puts her bariatric people under her wings and makes sure that they do it safely and correctly. She's awesome
Do you have your annual plants in already? We always hold off till around Memorial Day to be sure there is no more frost...
29 years, today, since the downtown Kalamazoo tornado. Time flies! I'll never forget the destruction of the downtown area. It completely stripped the back of a department store and made it look like a dollhouse with the racks of clothes still standing next to it-totally wierd.
QOTD? Open mike day today. Anything on your chest that you want to get off that you want to share? I want everyone to know I have an interview for a different position within the company today!! It's a phone interview so I don't have to "dress." It is the initial interview. I want this one really bad 'caus it means steady work, pay and benefits.
Cross your fingers for me...
Take care
Deb

Hi Deb,
I am drinking s/f raspberry ice this morning. I wait until about 3pm to get my Venti Skinny Cinnamon Dolce Latte.... so yummy. I haven't been exercising since we've discovered the dog park. One hour there is like Leo ran about 3 hrs beside my bike. I need to commit to riding alone to benefit my heart health. I think its inspiring how you get up every morning and work out. Dedication is key. And you my dear, have the Key.
QOTD: There are some things I am grateful for that I would like to share if you would indulge me:
The women in my life. My friends who are the absolute best.
The men in my life. My friends who are also the absolute best.
Nature, pure and simple. To watch it from a distance and not disturb it.
Health, because it can be ripped from you at a moments notice. Enjoy it.
Belly Laughs from a child.
Strawberries dipped in Splenda.
Ebay because its the only place I can find Tint brand jeans in size 14!!!
Thanks for listening, errr reading!

Yawn..........Good Morning everyone.
I'll have my fingers crossed for you Deb!
QOTD-Oh boy....here I go with the waterworks. My oldest son, Nick, is 17 years old today. I had him via emergency C-section when I came here from North Carolina to visit my mom. The docs at Oakwood told me "your baby is barely alive. We need to do an amnio and see if there is any chance he'll survive, but there is really no chance he will." So during the amnio, they hit the cord, and Nick went in to cardiac arrest. He was delivered in less than 6 minutes! We were told he would be blind, and probably not make it to his first birthday. Today, Nick is severely mentally and physically disabled. He functions at about an 18 month old level and does not walk. But he's an awesome kid! His love is Barney, and has been since he was 2 years old. So today, we are getting a big purple Barney cake and celebrating! I was singing Happy Birthday to him this morning (the Beatles version) and he got so excited! I think he knew there was cake involved at some point today!
Thanks for letting me take up so much space today. Once Nick moved past the 'cute little disabled boy' stage, my friends and Nick's Dad disappeared. It's so nice that I can talk about anything here and I know you guys will understand!
Hope you all have a great day!!

Brenda, My heart goes out to you ...Tell Nick we said HAPPY BIRTHDAY !!! Your one super MOM ..
Good morning everyone!!
Deb - good luck on the interview, I hope you get the position!
Brenda - you brought tears to my eyes - you sound like a wonderful mother and NIck sounds like a true joy!
QOTD: I am thankful for my children. I have three kids (21, 19 & 17) and in Feb, Katie was in a car accident and totalled her car but came out of it unharmed. A couple weeks after my surgery, Mike, my 19 yr old, called me at 3:00 am and said 'mom, i need your help, I've been in an accident'. He fell asleep at the wheel and crossed the line and just missed a utility pole head on. He was not hurt, but almost $2,000 worth of damage to his car. I have prayed and thanked God that my kids were okay, but it has been a gentle reminder not to take things for granted! Anything can change in a heartbeat.
I am also thankful for my fiance Steve and his two kids. Steve and I have been together for 6 years living a long distance relationship becuase he is in Chelsea. He is my rock and we have a very stong relationship. As soon as our two youngest graduate from high school (next year!) we will get married. I am so looking forward to living in the same house....even though I will still be working in Midland ! I am thankful for my job in today's economy and especially with all of the people being let go from their jobs.
Enjoy your day everyone!

Good morning Everyone.
Deb GOOD LUCK :)
Brenda, You sound like a wonderful mom. I work with Developmentally Disabled people everyday. Thats my job. I love it and wouldn't change it for anything!
QOTD- I'm happy that my son was not injured any worse and that he is going to be okay. I'm happy my surgery is behind me and god brought me thru it. I'm happy to be back at work and I'm happy that spring is here. It feels good to be happy, sometimes its easy to focus on the negative, but I'm trying to be grateful for what I have instead of what I don't . Hope everyone has a wonderful day!!

You know.....your post got me thinking.
Even though I am a complainer (yes, I will admit it) I have so many more happy moments since my surgery. I was always upset about something before.....my weight, my self-image, how I felt, etc. But since then I have been able to have good and bad days....not just bad ones. I do feel really blessed to have a job and insurance that paid for all of my healthcare and a family that helped me a long the way.
Sheesh you guys......again with the waterworks! Knock it off!!!
