Tuesday morning chat

Good Tuesday morning everyone.
I'm at work today drinking water.

QOTD: I stopped losing at 1 year out and have gained 25 lbs.  I can gain up to 4 lbs. over a weekend some times.

I just want to point out as an answer to many different posts that just because someone isn't losing like crazy or doesn't get to goal does NOT mean that they are eating fast food and cheating to get around their surgery.  It's really a common misconception.  I heard something very interesting the other day when I was complaining about being the only person on the board having major issues with my post-op body:  There are a lot more people that have issues with weight gain after surgery than you think.  Many of them are too embarassed to post regularly.  I'm not talking about getting to goal and then putting on a few pounds.  I am talking about people like me that never even get close to goal and then all of the sudden it's like someone flipped a switch and you are done losing and begin to gain rapidly.

Alright, on that happy note, I'm going back to work LOL.  I do hope you all have a good day.

PS-my gym is closed this week for remodeling.  I have been forced to....gulp....exercise outside.  Ugh!

Morning all,

I am at work, sipping many things.  Nothing is setting well on my tummy today.  I have tried coffee, hot peppermint tea, ice tea, chia tea and even some diet coke.    Not sure if it is the Vicoden or the prednisone that they have me one, but every day gets worse with tummy issues.    I am going to the doc on Thursday, which is the earliest they can get me in.    I am so tired of feeling like this, I want to be back to myself.

QOTD - I am about 50 pounds from my doc's goal for me.  At this point, that is ok with me.  I feel alot healthier than I did 2 years ago when I had my surgery.  I bounce around like Brenda said, I don't pay alot of attention or stress out about it.  To me it is part of normal life.  I do know if I don't get 100 oz of water in a day, it will make the scale go up.

Here is to warmer weather and sunshine.  I am going to go sit on the grass for my lunch hour and get some Vitamin D.

Pam

Good Morning, even though it's almost noon... Went to coffee with my water aerobic group and had my decaf with a little cream........
QOTD-no weight gain. I do go up a pound occasionally, but I attribute it to fluid retention and weight training. I have been loosing at a snail's pace for almost a year. But, I don't let it mess up my mind as it's not the only thing in WLS that matters. I've lost 3 sizes in clothes during that time, so something is going away.......

Good afternoon!  Just thought I'd pop in and say hi.
Weight gain...I try not to think about it, too much.  I know that it all depends on what I eat, how much I eat and how much/little exercise I do.  So, if I found myself gaining weight (prior to getting pregnant, that is), I pretty much knew exactly why.  I wasn't eating like I should (i.e. grazing on things I shouldn't be).  But I didn't get surgery to be a bikini model.  I didn't have surgery to get to a specific size or weight.  I'm happy where I am.  But that doesn't mean I wouldn't be happy to lose more.  I just don't focus on it.  But if I never lose another ounce, I will be okay!   I am confident that I will NEVER weigh what I did before and that I have control, like I didn't before.

Speaking of weight gain/loss...I am to the point in my pregnancy that I am having weekly OB appointments.  I went yesterday and found that I have lost 5 pounds in one week.  Of course, when I told them WHY, my doc completely understood.  He is not concerned with my weight loss.  The baby is growing as expected and weight loss at this point won't affect him.  He did stress to me that REST was most important and honestly, I have been able to rest comfortably here in the recliner.

QUICK UPDATE:  AJ is doing so much better.  He was able to swallow a little bit yesterday which ok'd him for a more "permanent" feeding tube in his abdomen.  They'll put that in tomorrow and he'll be heading to the Rehab floor probably on Friday.  Their goal is to get him doing his daily functions SAFELY as the brain heals itself and his balance, coordination and swallowing return to 'normal'.  They are eager to work with him as they said they'll get to do more things with him that they don't always get to do with other stroke patients.  He is a big, strong guy and that is working in his favor!

Enjoy this day!!! Tina

Tina, you are so fabulous.
Everyone needs to learn to chill out like you do.  The world would be a better place if we did.
Tell AJ to "sip sip sip, walk, walk, walk"  Hahaha.  No, don't tell him that, he won't think it's funny!

I am glad to hear that AJ is healing well at an expected rate and I hope that by the end of the week he will be on that rehab floor so that his healing will go along with the progress he has made already.

You are doing a great job keeping your cool. I am sure your emotions are running high!

Good luck with everything!!
