Had my protein coffee, now trying to decide what else to start drinking.  Left my water bottle home again - ugh.

I'm 6 months out, and yes, I've gained a few, taken them off a few times.  And yes, I was crushed like you were.  Very hard to see that - even when you know its probably water.  Ok, there was a time when I didn't eat right and probably justly deserved it.  I'm back on track and need to get another 10 lbs off.  The last 10 I've heard are the hardest.... so far that's very true!

Good morning I'm drinking coffee with vanilla caramel coffeemate. The only time I get on the scales is when I go to the doctor. It's been almost six years since I've had surgery, I have gained some weight back. The first two years were fairly easy then it was a very slow gain for three years.I can't go by how much I've gained I can tell by my clothes.I went from an 18/20 to a size 10/12  now I wear a size 12/14,it depends on the brand...I did go to the doctor last week for my yearly checkup ,I gained 8 pounds the past year.I know it's stress eating,my husband has stage 4 small cell lung cancer,I've been under a lot of stress. Now that I can get outside and hopefully  use the pool soon it will come off. When my size 12 jeans started getting tight I realized what I was doing and have tried to slow down the night snacking.Thank God my tool still works,I can't eat ice cream or some other things I love, it comes back up.You would think after almost 6 years spaghetti would be something I could eat,I stay as far away from it as I can,it comes up faster than it went down.Everyone have a great day.

Morning all.

I don't count a gain of a pound or two as a gain unless it doesn't come back off in the next few days, so i have never had a pattern of gaining weight back, and my trend has always been very slow but continued weight loss. I try not to weigh every day-just a little too much sodium can put me up a pound or two and I am not going to stress about that.  But I do need to get real serious about journaling and exercising consistently since I have been at a stall for about two months-but not a gain.

Good Morning Danielle,

I am eating Quinoa with cheese and salsa for breakfast.  I have some raspberry koolaid on stand by.

Don't sweat the one pound, cuz its probably just sweat anyhow.  Our bodies tend to retain water now and then.  Just up your h2o intake and I bet tomorrow you'll be back down.  Make sure not to eat too much sodium...  oh and add lemon to your water cuz its a natural diuretic.

QOTD:  Oh yeah, I had put on a few here and there during the first year.  And yes, I was devastated the first time.  By the 3rd or 4th time, I understood that it was just what my body does.  Ups and downs I guess.  I knew it wasnt because of not eating right or not exercising, so I just stepped away from the scale.  I am two yrs out next month and my body still plays some tricks on me, but I take it in stride now.

btw, Great work Danielle, own it Baby!!!!!!

A few Quinoa grains close up.

Quinoa was of great nutritional importance in pre-Columbian Andean civilizations, being secondary only to the potato, and was followed in importance by maize. In contemporary times, this crop has become highly appreciated for its nutritional value, as its protein content is very high (12%–18%), making it a healthful choice for vegetarians and vegans. Unlike wheat or rice (which are low in lysine), quinoa contains a balanced set of essential amino acids for humans, making it an unusually complete protein source.[3] It is a good source of dietary fiber and phosphorus and is high in magnesium and iron. Quinoa is gluten-free and considered easy to digest. Because of all these characteristics, quinoa is being considered a possible crop in NASA's Controlled Ecological Life Support System for long-duration manned spaceflights.[3]

[edit] Saponin content

Quinoa in its natural state has a coating of bitter-tasting saponins, making it unpalatable. Most quinoa sold commercially in North America has been processed to remove this coating. Some have speculated this bitter coating may have caused the Europeans who first encountered quinoa to reject it as a food source, since they adopted other indigenous food plants of the Americas like maize and potatoes. This bitterness has beneficial effects during cultivation as the plant is unpopular with birds and thus requires minimal protection.

it looks like couscous or something, the flavor is bland, so I spice it up some.  Its a great replacement for rice which is high on the glycemic index and bad for type I diabetics....

Good morning!

I'm still sipping on my fake latte this morning.  I've got my first official group training tonight with Crim... we're scheduled to do 4 miles.  It's suppose to be sunny today but only a high of 65 or so.  Should be fun to get to know the 15-or-so people who will be my best friends all summer long.

QOTD -- No, I haven't gained any weight since surgery.  Yes, the scale plays games with me... but I know it's not actual fat or weight gain when the scale shows that I'm up a pound or two.  However, my weight loss dramatically slowed down after the first 8 months or so.  I hit the 100lbs mark in August last year and since then I've lost only another 15 pounds (and 5 of those have been in the last month).

I checked my body fat percentage this morning and it's down to 34.5% (which is about 1% lower than it was last month).  So even if the scale isn't moving in the right direction today (up 2 pounds from last week), at least I'm burning fat somewhere.

Danielle --- that one pound gain isn't really a gain.  Don't let the scale mess with your mind.  You KNOW that one pound isn't fat gain and it's jus****er weight or whatever... its no big deal in the grand scheme of life, right?

My Recipe Index is packed full of yumminess!

Good morning all!  I had protein coffee this am.

I am recently banded.  So, I'm different from most of you.  I have been dieting since WLS and have watched the scale go up and down, but on a down trend.  I have been doing really well since the 2nd fill.  I hope it keeps up and isn't just from the major stress I'm going thru this past week or so.

BAND REMOVED 9-4-12-fought insurance to get sleeve and won! Sleeved 1/22/13! Five years out and trying to get that last 15 pounds back off.
