Question

I have a question regarding post surgery.  After I have my surgery and get to soft foods, I s'pose yogurt is considered soft foods.  Will I be able to eat a small container of yogurt? or will I have to eat that one container in three sittings?  I understand my pouch will only hold about one ounce, so that would mean...six meals from one cup of yogurt???  Seems impossible.

You are right on with that.  One thing my hubby was astonished on is a can of soup.  It would last me 2 days.

As far as yogart, I bought a 32 oz container of vanilla.  At that point in time, you don't really eat enough to get tired of it.  Besides you could use it in smoothies too.

I bought Campbells soup at hand.  Cream of mushroom was a favorite, which I hated before surgery.  One would last me 3 - 4 meals.

Everyone is different post-op, but you can expect to get full from a few tablespoons of food.
Remember that yogurt will pass through your pouch quickly, so even though you may get full fast, you will be hungry again sooner than if you ate a solid protein, like meat or chicken.

Just some advice that you probably already know....portion your yogurt out in to a small bowl. If you eat straight from the carton and then put it back in the frige, your saliva will start to break down the yogurt and it will turn watery on you before you can fini****

If I remember from way back then, I think it took me 3 servings to finish an 8 oz. yogurt.  Now, I eat an 8oz one with cereal in it as a snack.

Lol, I remember those days!!!  Sometimes I wish I could back there -- hard as it seems enjoy that while you can.
You'll look at food consistency very different post op.  Something like yogurt is pretty thin and will go through your pouch fairly quickly while things like meat take longer.  No you won't finish a container of yogurt in 1 setting, for me I think it was normally about 2 sometimes 3 meals worth.  I did mix some unjury with it to try to get my protein count up.
If it takes you 30 minutes to eat that 2-3 oz. by the time you're 15-20 minutes into the meal the beginning portions will have probably moved through your pouch and into your intestines.
I don't care how many people you ask or how much you think you're ready for it: immediately post-op you'll be shocked about how little it takes to feel full.  Enjoy it and we're making room for you on this bench of ours

I had bought the little "mini" yogurts.  I could eat the whole thing in a sitting - but it took me a very long time.  And to this day, I have a hard time eating yogurt again - I got sick of it.  But also, I check the sugars in it and find there are more than I want to eat - so I don't.

Actually, I ate yogurt right after the hospital.  I lumped it with jello and pudding.

I too wish at times I could get the new "just after surgery" non hunger feeling.  At the time it seemed like a pain, but now I would love to have that kick in once in awhile.

I am 2 weeks out today and I just bought the little containers of yogurt ( about the same size as a pudding cup) , I can eat a whole one but it takes me like 10 minutes or more.  A can of soup would take me all day to eat.
