Saturday Java!
Good Morning everyone in Michigan! Are we sleeping in this morning or do we have a packed, busy schedule today?
What's in your Saturday cup? Have decaf and black brewing. So good...
Prayers for our fellow Michigan OHers that are having some difficult times health or otherwise.
Mom's Day tomorrow!
QOTD- In the spirit of Mom's Day, what is your best Mom memory? My Mom has been gone for almost 6 years. She came from Germany after WW2. I really miss talking to her and her German accent. The memory I have of her is singing those funny German "kinder" songs to us growing up. Sometimes they pop up in my mind and it gives me good memories of her.......
Hope you all have a good weekend and if you still have a Mom with you, give her a hug......

I had good intentions of sleeping late today. I hate when that doesn't happen. So I've got the teapot on and will have a cup of protein chai tea in a few minutes.
I'm suppose to go on a photo shoot today with my photography group. But I don't think I want to take my equipment out in this rain. We'll see how it looks at 3:00.
QOTD -- All through elementary school my sister and I would walk to the bus garage after school to wait for my mom to finish her route. She drove special ed kids back then and she'd drop off her load at the bus garage parking lot and they'd transfer to other small busses to get home. I remember standing at the bus door while the kids came off and say Hi to everyone. I still see some of those "kids" around town sometimes and they still recognize me and me them. Then mom would park her bus and we'd all walk the 3 blocks home.

Yay! It's Saturday!
I haven't started drinking yet. I'm starving and there is nothing to eat in this house except for cold, sugary cereal. I'm going to have to hit the grocery store later. My DH got me a GPS for the car last week so I find myself looking for excuses to go new places just so I can play with it. I will probably end up in Bay City or something today!
Great QOTD Deb. I am lucky my mom is still with me. I have been sitting here for a while thinking of what a good memory would be. Even though I am close in distance to my mom, she's a hard person to get to know. She didn't like being a mom to little kids, so she didn't do a lot of "mommy" type stuff. I guess my best memory would be her staying with me during my RNY. She took time off work (which she never does) and stayed with me so DH could stay home with the kids.
Hope you all have a great day! If you see a grey Impala with a pink Tiger's "D" on it tooling down the road, make sure you wave!!

Good morning, everyone!! Doing well today. Hubby is in the shower! YAY!! He walked to the shower using the walker, with the OT there to help him if he loses his balance. He did just fine. Not too wobbly! He swallowed two ice chips yesterday, so that's good. We are hoping his swallowing function returns mostly by Monday. Then he's off to rehab!!
QOTD: My mom lives in TN and I so wish she lived back up here!! Her health is not good and that makes it doubly hard on us up here. We want to be there to take care of her like we think she should be. But she wants to be in TN with her hubby. We try to understand that, but it's not always easy! But some of my favorite memories of my mom have been as an adult. She was always a bit high strung and worried about how clean the house was when I was a kid, so we didn't always see eye to eye in that area, but she was still a great mom and I wouldn't trade her for the world!!!
I would also like to say that I think I might have the greatest mother in law out there, too! It's a good thing we like each other so much as we've been cooped up in this room with AJ for a week. LOL!
I do have to say that we have an awesome view of the valley here from the hospital room, and it looks like a nice sunny day from here!
Enjoy the day! Tina

Morning all,
I've had my protein shake w/ chocolate soy, fz cherries and fz pineapple, YUMMY!!!
Q: Like Brenda my Mom was not a warm lovey dovey kind of person, and we don't see eye to eye on some things, BUT when I was diagnosed with cancer everything changed. I could hear the fear in my parents voices (they live in Phx), I will never forget the first time I saw them after my diagnosis I literally saw their shoulders settle down and the fear in their eyes soften, because I still looked like their daughter, not a cancer patient dying. That journey changed our entire family dynamic. We all (mom, dad and 4 kids) no longer rely on the fact that we know we'll see each other, we all make an effort to see each other more often and call each other allot more often than we ever did. I saw how much everyone really cared, it was heartwarming. I hope other people don't have to do through what my family did before they realize how short life can be. Don't get me wrong, we weren't estranged, just.....life got in the way, ya know.
WOW did that turn into something sappy or what LOL, Thanks Deb!!!
Have a great day all,
Edie

Nothing planned for today.
QOTD- I lost my Mom 5-20-2002. Growing up I was a real Daddy's girl. My Dad passed away suddenly when I was 20. I had never been close to my Mom, in fact I didn't really like her much. After Dad died I made an effort to get to know my Mom. She was a lovely person actually. I remember being kids, riding in the car with Mom and Dad, Mom would start singing little songs that she had learned from her parents while growing up in the UP. When I sang those songs to my boys they said 'What the heck was that?!' Little nonsence songs that bring a smile to me to this day. One time my sister said she was jealous of the close relationship that I had with Mom. I told her it took effort, but now just is natural. I think that if my Dad hadn't passed, I would have missed out on truly knowing this kind, caring and gentle Mom. I miss her a lot.
Whooo talk about sappy. Closed my throat right up writing this.
Hope everyone has a great weekend.

I shousl be more excited about Thursday! My Doctor's office called And i will be finding out my date on thursday. She said probably the middle of June! Yahooooo..........
QOTD: My favorite Memory of my mom is how she always very aware of the dangers of the world. I lived in the country, but every once in a while we would make the hour drive to Gennesee Valley Mall and go shopping for the whole day. But my mom always made sure i had on clean underwear, in case we got into an accident, she made sure we took a coat, in case we had to walk if the car broke down. She would always take her purse with the long strap, and put it diagonally across her body, so no one could take it, and we always left the mall before dark, so we didnt have walk through the parking lot at night. We always wore mathing outfits and wore our hair in the bun! I used to be Humiliated, but now that i look back i miss that about her!
Hope everyone has a great day!
