Hi everyone!

I just had my surgery (vertical sleeve gastrectomy) this past Thursday.  I am already struggling with head hunger, although I am clearly not physically hungry.  I would like to know if any of you can recommend a good therapist or psychologist that specializes in bariatric surgery?  I tried to look in the "psychologist" section on the sidebar here, but I found that most of those practitioners were those who did psych evals.

Thanks in advance!

Hey you!

YES- my mom knows someone who is supposed to be GREAT. I will ask her for the info when I talk to her tomorrow and get back to you.

Hope you're feeling ok today. I'll message you soon.

Beaumont Weight Control Center, I believe his name is Steve.   He is very good.   He was helpful to me even after 5 years out, dealing with the mind-body stuff.   I did not have my surgery at Beaumont, but have found them to be very helpful, as my insurance changed and I cannot use Henry Ford.

Hey Shannon,

If you look to the right of the page on the Michigan board where it states: Other Michigan resources there is a list of professionals by area/expertise.  I found my psychologist on here.  She was also a RNY patient to boot.  She was very helpful.

good luck
