Two things.......

First, I hit my first goal of 50 lbs today!!!!   I have lost 50.1 lbs since starting the pre-op diet on 2/22 :-)  I can't believe how fast thie time has been going.  I have been wearing size 24 pants but today, got out some old clothes and could fit in a size 20 pair of jeans !!  I love my RNY!

Secondly, after some good advice yesterday (thanks Edie!) I worked really hard on upping my protien and liquids today.....

Here are my final totals for the day.......104 grams of protien and 83 oz of fluids !!!!   I had a total of 726 calories.  Boy, I feel like I was either eating or drinking all day long :-)

Is that too many calories at 7 1/2 weeks out or should I just be concerned about protien & liquids and not so much concerned about calories??

Thanks for the advice everyone!

Aww, thanks Bev!  You'll get there....remember 19 of those lbs were pre surgery for me, so really since surgery I only lost 31 lbs since surgery.  I feel like I'm a slow loser, but when you look at the big picture, 50 lbs a little over 2 months, that is not bad.

I do feel good and I enjoy walking too.  I'm happy you are enjoying the golf course again and are regaining your life back!!

Take care!

I would say that your calorie level is a little low if anything, but it sounds like you are doing great and developing fantastic habits and discipline.  Congratulations on those size 20s.  Not long  until you can shop in the misses department-its a whole new world!

Thanks!!  I can't wait!!

Funny thing is about 5 years ago I lost 134 lbs doing the Adkins (gained it all back over the past 5 years) but I have tons of size 8 pants that I never got rid of.  I must have 20-25 pairs of pants.  I can't wait to get back into those someday!!

I think I was getting fewer calories than that at 3 months out, but felt I was eating all the time, and wasn't really hungry.

How much exercise are you doing?  That makes a big difference in the amount of calories you take in. I found that I wasn't losing well, even after exercising, upped my calories some and a few carbs, and the weight started coming off again.  I also make sure I drink a protein drink after exercise.  It helps the muscles recover and helps concentrate on burning fat rather than yoru muscle.

It sounds like you're doing everything right.  Protein is key as well as your liquids (easier said than done, I definitely know that!).

Keep up the good work!  Congratulations on the milestones and WOW's!

I think on most days I get in around 500 calories

I am walking 1.5 - 2 miles about 4-5 days a week.  I haven't started any weight training yet.

Thanks for the advice!!

Hey Nan,

Me again LOL! (and your welcome)  I went and looked back on my fitday account to 2 mo's post op, I was eating around 1,100 cals per day.  Once we began soft/normal foods my nut wanted me between 1,000 and 1,200 per day until goal.

Congrats on getting in more protein and fluids, that should help allot.  Something I've read here and there is that if you eat too few calories your body stays in starvation mode and holds it's weight, I know for me that was true, like everything else, what works for me, may not work for you (my disclaimer LOL).  I tried to let my stalls be as my body wanted them to be, but if it went over 10-12 days I would increase my eating and that usually lost me a few lbs and started the ball rolling again, coincidence?  I don't know, but it worked for me!  And I got a few days of fun eating to boot!!

Congrats on the big 50!!! go get a massage, manni, peddi....something fun to celebrate!

Have a great day,

Edie
