Wednesday.....I can't believe Shannon
Hey Edie,
I always add chopped granny smith apples to my chicken salad. Its like a sweet/tart taste and compliments it nicely. I also add grapes and nuts as well. Oh and red onion. and swiss cheese..
I was missing a form of cheese on that concoction from this morning. I could have used some freshly grated Parm slightly melted.....

I've done the apple and onion thing, but for easy peasy last night, it was just the grapes and nuts, but now your going to make me go buy some apples and onions and make it again LOL!

Hey everyone!
Sure is nice and sunny here in mid-Michigan! Wi**** would warm up just a bit!
QOTD: No, I haven't suggested it to anyone but have talked to about it to my kids. My daughter works sooooo hard at losing weight with no good results. I have offered to pay for her to go to WW, Jenny Craig, whatever she wants, but she keeps saying 'she can do it on her own'. I said I'd even help her through the process of getting approved for WLS but she says it's not for her. She'll be 21 in May. Maybe someday she will research it and decide for herself that is what she needs. My youngest son, however is ALL FOR WLS but he just turned 17. so in order for my insurance to pay for it, he has to wait until he is 18. I am going to have him start seeing our PCP this summer so he can get his 6 months supervised visits in so that hopefully, if he still chooses to have the surgery when he turns 18 he will be prepared.
I have mixed emotions about that because I don't want him going through his life like I did, very unhappy and missing out on life because of my weight, but then again, he is only 18 and it is such a DRASTIC change in eating that I wonder at that age, can he really understand and appreciate the changes that will need to take place in order to be successful. I mean, I am 47 and I have dieted my entire life, lost over 100 lbs four different times in my adult life and still find the new way of eating post WLS to be challenging. I want him to have it so bad, but I want him to make that decision for himself, and I want him to know the sacrifices he'll have to make once he does have it.
Okay, I am rambling...... :-)
Have a great day everyone!

Nan,
I can totally understand your trepidation in someone so young making such a life altering decision. I would be so excited, yet scared to death if I had a 17 year old wanting to make that decision. Wow, that's a mental rollarcoaster ride isn't it.
Are there any support groups face to face, on line...for very young people who can talk to him about it? I think that would be so helpful for him. Maybe your PCP knows somewhere he can talk to people his own age, or a few years older.
Good luck,
Edie

Good afternoon
About ready to go home from work for the day.... had my protein coffee for breakfast and a jimmy dean chili brat for lunch
QOTD: Yes, I've suggested it to 2 people who asked me more about it. They both were receptive in hearing about it, but neither have done anything about it. The guy in my office that asked just likes to eat and drink too much and he realizes what a huge change it will be in that aspect.
They have to come about it and decide in their own time. All we can do is provide the information for them and then they had to do with it as they please.
I know I also see people struggling with their weight (strangers) and would love to say something, but of course never would. Who knows if they have insurance or what their life situation is?

I just got home! I spent the day with my oldest daughter painting my middle daughters nursery. Her little guy is almost a year old and has been kept in a closet We got all the walls sanded, washed and painted today. I need to do some trim work yet and hang the drapes. Than we can get the crib finally set up. He has been in a play-yard till now.
QOTD: No I haven't as I'd be offended if someone had suggested it to me. Now if after I get my weight off like you long timers and someone ask me about it that would benefit, than I would talk to them about it.
