Does anyone on the board attend the support group with Hurley on Robert T Longway in Flint?  If I remember right the meetings are the first Monday of every month.  I have never attended but am looking forward to the one in May?

I would like to find how others are doing as far as getting proteins and such in.  I know I am wwwaaaayyyyyyy lacking in protein and liquids but I do try.

What surgery did you have and when?

Do you like shakes?
Have you tried bars?
Have you ever tried doing a protein ice cream?

I am 4 years post op with a gastric bypass. Would love to help if I can! Where are you located?

I am in the Flint area.  I like shakes but the proteins I have tried so far are soooo nasty.   I just ordered a new one someone mentioned called Unjury?   Hopefully that will help.  Also tonight I was at SAMS and found another protein bar that sounded alright.  Its just that so  far I have found NOTHING with protein that is half way decent so I just skip it, but I do keep trying.  Never heard of protein ice cream, is it good and where do you get it from?  I am 2 months out and worried because I know my protein is substanially low.

I use the Unjury and like it.  I ordered the Chicken soup flavored, It is really good!  21 grams of protien when you make 1 cup.   I also have the unflavored and I've been making fruit smoothies in the morning with that using  1 cup skim milk, 1 scoop Unjury (unflavored), 1/2 c yougurt and some frozen strawberries.  It ends up being like 32 grams of protien!

I make the protein ice cream myself....you have to have one of the electri**** cream freezers (cuisinart or another brand).  My
recipe is:
2 cups skim milk
1 cup f/f half and half
1 - 3 oz. s/f pudding, any flavor
2 scoops of protein powder

Wisk together or beat for two minutes, then slowly pour into the
ice cream freezer as it is turning.  I process mine for 25-26 minutes and it comes out like soft serve.  It will harden in the freezer, but I
just put it in the microwave for about a minute and it softens enough
to get out a 1/2 cup serving.

Nutrition facts for a 1/2 cup serving:
13 gm. protein,  less than 1 gm. fat, 120 calories

I especially like lemon and butterscotch.

Enjoy!

Hi!  I try to make the support group at Robert T.  I missed the last two but the one was canceled due to weather.  I made the one this Monday that they have every other month for lap banders.  I plan on attending the May meeting if all goes well.

I like to start the day with a protein coffee.  I take one scoop of EAS protein, usually vanilla, mix it with a couple oz milk to make a paste and than add coffee.  (If I didn't get enough protein the day before I use two scoops)  Sometimes I add SF coffee syrup to mix up the taste.
