MESSA Blue Cross and the Band

Hello.  I was wondering if there is anyone out there who has MESSA Blue Cross and has already had band surgery, either Lap or Realize.  Is MESSA covering your fills?  I'm scheduled for surgery on May 20th, and this morning I decided I had better make sure that fills were covered, but when I called MESSA they said it was an approved code and it SHOULD be covered but he wouldn't guarantee anything over the phone.  I've been pre-approved for my surgery and if fills are an approved code I would think they would automatically be covered.  It just made me a little nervous that he didn't say YES!  They're covered.  Please let me know what your experience has been.

Thanks,
Kat

 Hey Kat
Don't know which MESSA plan you have, and I did the RNY, BUT I'd assume worse case scenario is the fills being treated like to an office visit.  My experiences with MESSA has been so great, sometimes a little slow with the pre-approval but after that just great.
Have you called your surgeons office and asked them?  They can probably tell you best (since they are going to want their money).
Goo luck, not much longer now

Kat,
I had the lap band done with Messa.. They covered everything.. (I think I've had to pay only $800 at the initial start) and that was it... They are covering my fills as well. I'm almost a year and a half post-op and I've had five fills so far. They are all covered. Messa is so iffy when it comes to the lap band..but if your surgery has been approved, there's no way they can deny you the fills.. It's already been approved (and since the fills are part of the clause of the surgery post-op there's really no way they can deny it). Both my dad and I had ours done (Mine done a week before him)... both under Messa and we both haven't had any issues a year and half into this.
Good Luck with your surgery. This is just the beginning of your new life! I don't regret a single thing and it's the best decision I've ever made!
