Good Morning.  How much do we love BM, not only for posting a morning juice thread, but for adding a FFF as well.  Brilliant!

Here are my answers:

1.  How much time per day do you watch t.v. or sit at the computer? I sit at the computer all day at work, then for about an hour total at home.  I watch TV for about an hour a day, but more on the weekends.  Of course we aren't counting Thursdays when I have a ton of shows to watch.

2.  Do you eat meals at the table with your family? We have dinner together every night.  Friday is take-out night, and we usually eat picnic style in the living room.

3.  How often do you try new foods? Never.  Ever.

4.  What is your favorite type of exercise? I hate exercise.  But I would rather do weight training than cardio.

5.  What is the one thing you most looking forward to this Summer? Being warm, and possibly having my yard decent enough to maybe have a BBQ.  Oh yeah, and there is the Barney meet and greet.  That's high on the list!

I have my RMR test tomorrow.  For those that are interested, I'll let you know how it goes.

3.  How often do you try new foods? As often as I can. I had some different su****his week and tried sasami. Both were wonderful

4.  What is your favorite type of exercise? Bicycling, spin, walking

5.  What is the one thing you most looking forward to this Summer? My grandson, Colin James, due in July!!!! Bicycling and it's getting a lot easier with less weight. I'm looking forward to my bike trip over Labor Day

Hi Deb,
Yesterday I was spying on the spin class at the gym.  I want to try it (they are drop-in classes) but I am really intimidated.

Can you give me an overview of how your class works?  I am a total cream puff, and I'm worried I won't be able to keep up.

Hi Brenda,
I know exactly how you feel. I felt that way when I started spinning.
How to get started spinning so you ENJOY spinning is this:
Go to an introductory class, if your gym offers one. The class shows you how to set up your spin bike properly, which is so important, so you don't cause undue stress on your joints (especially the knees). The class shows you how to "spin"-meaning proper cadence (rpms),posture (light hands on the handle bars) and pedaling (you keep your toes pointed slightly up during the whole rotation). Then they go through a spin sequence where you use the tension knob on the bike to create resistance. Your first spin class shouldn't be more than 30 minutes and you shouldn't work so hard that you can't talk in short words while spinning.
If there is no introductory class, go to a regular class and introduce yourself to the instructor and let them know this is your first time and you need to be set up on your spin bike. Spin instructors are certified and know how to do this correctly. The instructor should help you with the spin basics.
Remember, this is YOUR journey and you control how many turns on the knob you do for resistance. If you are at a regular spin class, don't feel self-conscious if you quit after 20 minutes or remain seated while others are out of the saddle. It takes time to build the muscles for spin (calves, thighs and gluts).
About the saddle-usually hard and not too comfortable at first (I guess you build callouses in those areas). Some spin studios have gel pads for the saddles. If you decide you really like spin, it is wise to invest in padded bike shorts and they are not all spandex.
WATER. always have at least a 20 ounce water bottle with you. Spin will ,make you sweat and you will need to keep hydrated.
Try it for 3 sessions. Most people don't like it after the first as your thighs may be crying for a little while. It takes 3 sessions to feel good about it.
I love the music, the people, and it's great exercise. It burns big calorie amounts. Plus, if you do any bicycling outside, it gets you in great condition for that. Hills can be your friend....
I hope this wasn't too lengthy.
Let me know when you give it a try. I've been spinning for nine years and am truly addicted to it...

It's been another busy day at school.  Getting ready to eat my lunch here, shortly.

Five for Friday:

1.  How much time per day do you watch t.v. or sit at the computer?
I've actually cut back on my internet time, but I'm still on A LOT.  I love the internet.  It quenches my thirst for knowledge and all things pointless....all at the same time!!

Usually, though, if I'm online, it's at night and the TV is on the in the background.

2.  Do you eat meals at the table with your family?
I eat most of my meals by myself beaue my hubby is on 2nd shift right now.  BUT even when he wasn't, most of the time we ate on TV trays, in the living room.

3.  How often do you try new foods?
Not very often.  I'm a food wimp.  I like what I like and not much else.

4.  What is your favorite type of exercise?
I prefer exercise that isn't really "exercise".  I prefer to go outside and ride my bike on a trail.  I like exercise that isn't boring and repetitive.

5.  What is the one thing you most looking forward to this Summer?
Well, any other time, I would say SUMMER VACATION is what I look forward to every summer.   But this summer, we're looking forward to a new baby.  So that's a little different than previous years!!!  Although, I still look forward to all the same summer things I love to do.

ENJOY THE SUN!!! Tina
