Henry Ford - Dr. Genaw's Office - Has this happened to you?

Hey Everyone,

I went to a weigh-in yesterday and the scale said I gained six pounds since my January consultation.  I know this is not right, I bought a Weigh****cher's scale and that's how I keep track, I also attend an exercise bootcamp and my weight was the same there last night as it was at home.  I also weighed myself again when I got home from the doctor. So my question is has anyone had any scale discrepancies in the office?  I'm thinking about calling back because it's not a coincident that two different scales say the same thing. I've been working so hard at trying to lose these pounds and after that visit I'm quite discouraged....but, I'll just try even harder.

I would hope the doctor's office has their scale calibrated regularly, but so long as this doesn't impact your progress toward surgery I wouldn't worry about it until the next visit.  In the meantime, keep track on your own scale so you know if you are moving in the right direction.

Thanks, I'm doing that, but they use what their scale says in order to determine if I'm losing my pre-op weight. I'm going to join weigh****chers and have them weigh me weekly, so that I have it documented the next time I go.

Hi! Yes, I'm scheduled for May 26th, but I haven't lost any weight according to them. The first time I went and was weighed they said that if I didn't lose then I would lose my date. But, that didn't happen yet, I weigh again in a few weeks. PLEASE TELL ME WHAT YOU DID! This seems to be the hardest thing ever, I've never lost 16lbs in my LIFE!!!

LOL!!!!!!!!! Hey, about how many shakes did you drink? When you did eat what was it? Vegetables? I can do that, I'm in love with the Unjury protein shakes!! Did you mix them with water or skim milk?

RNY on 10/21/08 with
If you're using the Unjury unflavored, mix it with crystal light of your choice, or diet Ocean spray grape or cranberry - they're both very good.

If you have a flavored, mix with water initially so you don't get the extra carbs, fat and calories from the milk.  It may taste a little watery, but will do what you need it to do.

Hang in there and keep up the good work - it will happen for you!

Rocksgurl, me and you have the same surgery date with Dr. Genaw. He is performing my RNY. I do think their scale is accurate. It was more accurate than mine was. I was told to lose 15 pounds. The last time I weighed in, I lost 10. I have five more to go before my final weigh in on May 20.

I've been really watching my calorie intake keeping it around 1000-1100. Keep up with your protein because it does help. I was getting at least 80-90 grams. Exercise, exercise, exercise.
