Weigh In Tomorrow!!

Well, this is my second weigh in. I have to show some sort of weight loss toward my 16lb. goal. I'm doing everything I possibly can to lose the weight but it just seems like it's not coming off.  I'm losing inches, but it's the pounds that count when trying to meet your goal.  I'm getting frustrated and I'm starting to think that this is not meant to be.  I understand why I need to lose the weight, but, if it was that easy I swear I wouldn't be trying to have surgery. I know that someone can relate! I have PCOS which plays a great factor in it all. Do they not consider all of that when setting goals?  Besides, how in the world do you lose so much weight in a two month period and still sustain life?  Any suggestions are greatly appreciated! I'm doing liquid and fruit all day today any other suggestions. I have weighed myself and I think that I've lost at least 3-4 lbs. but my two scales say different and I don't know which one is closer to the grim truth!!

Hi,

Sorry, I don't know your name!  Pre-op weight loss can be such a challenge.  So many of us have been on so many diets, that the body just isn't willing to go along with yo-yoing any longer.  While my surgeon also required a pre-op diet (2 weeks), it was not with the intent of losing weight per se, as it was imperative to have the liver as small as possible and not get in the way during the lap procedure.  Luckily, they required the use of their products, which frankly, made this mindless and quite easy.

Along with your PCOS (which I was also diagnosed with in my early 20s), your choice of WLS  (restriction only)  may not allow for your significant loss of your excess weight.

Since I don't know your story (looked on your profile, but nothing was there!) and why you made the choice of LapBand, I don't mean to intrude, but simply point out that there are other options that may be a better choice.  Many people know about LB & RnY, and more are learning about VSG  (also restriction and no malabsorption, but so much of your hunger hormone -- grhelin -- is removed, and no need for fills or the many complications that plague LB patients), but very few know about DS.  Chances are, unless you go to one of the few surgeons qualified to perform the DS, you would never hear about it.  Unfortunately, many learn about this the DS when they are looking for an alternative to a failed WLS.

In any event, if you are still open to researching WLS options that may better help you meet all your post-op goals, please check out my profiles to links to information that will help you explore the other options.

Good luck with the diet!

The only thing that worked for me pre op was an Atkins type program.  I also have PCOS and getting sugar out of my life is the only thing that moved the scale for me.

Good luck,

Edie

I tried the garden diet and it worked post-op. I lost 16 pounds in two weeks.
