I have my date set for May 7th. Has anyone had their surgery here? How was it?

I had laproscopic RNY there 3/25/2008 and have done very well. The hospital is very well set up for the procedure and the 6Th floor handles all the bariatric patents. The beds and furniture are made for bariatric patients. I couldn't speak well enough of the care I got there. I guess since actions speak louder than words, I made sure I sent the staff a Christmas goodies package this Christmas. The follow up care and support at the Beaumont Weight Loss Center is fantastic. Best wishes on your journey.

I just had mine on April 9th and they were excellent.  The nurses were soooo encouraging and paid close attention to my pain level and my comfort.  They sent me a thankyou card and every nurse I had signed it which added a nice personal touch.  The anasthesia people and the O.R Nurse were awesome as well, they knew I was nervous and did what they could to reassure me I was in great hands.  My husband and I both work for Beaumont Royal Oak and I try not to play favorites, but it really was a nice experience.

I had my lap RYN 6 years ago and got  good care.  The nursing staff really did nothing for me but give me pain meds.  PLEASE make sure when you leave they adjust any medication you are taking.  For me...they didn't and I lost weight very fast and my blood pressure when way down.  I passed out  ( at the Beaumont Weight Center) and was readmitted for 2 days.

My doctor did make the adjustment in my chart but the nursing staff neglected to tell me.  All they said was..continue the same medication so I did.

ASK before you leave. Best of luck
