Any one from Kalamazoo!

Hello, I ama new resident to Kalamazoo. im loving it, but i dont know anybody here! I would love to start meeting new people here, ecspecially ones that are going through WLS like me.

I so not live in kalamazoo but I do live in MI.  Is your Dr. at barix clinics

No, i looked into barix clinics but  i would have to travel to Grand Rapids. I decided to see Dr. Verseman right here in Kalamazoo. I have a first consultation with him next week. Does anybody have a surgeon recomendation? I kinda just went with what was easiest.

Welcome to the MI boards.   Not from Kalamazoo.  The daughter was going to go to college there but ended up getting more scholarship money from Central.  It really is a nice place.  Hopefully you can find a support group nearby.  I had my surgery at Hurley in Flint as they have good support group.  Good Luck to you!

Hello, I am enjoying kalamazoo so far. Definelty a college town. Im familiar with Hurley Hospital. I had alot of health problems as  a child and my doctor was in flint (i lived in saginaw). I spent so much time at hurley i knew that place inside and out. They Were always good to me. The hopsitals here offer support groups, so i think after my appointment next week i will start thinking about joining one.

I could have used you as a guide.  That is the hardest hospital to get around in.  You can join the supprt groups before your appointment.  I did after the shrink advised they are a must.  I sure got more support and info from them than the doc appoints.  Not that they weren't very informative.

Welcome to Kalamazoo. You're really going to like it here. I've been living in Kalamazoo for 30 years and think it's the best mid-sized town in the state. Lots to offer as far as activities and close to larger cities like Detroit, Chicago or GR.
There is a large bariatric group here. There are support groups at both hospitals and you don't have to have your surgery at the particular hospital to participate.  I had my surgery at Borgess and their is a group on the first Saturday of the month at 1:00 at Borgess. There is another on the second Thursday of the month at 6:00pm at Woodbridge Center. There is a group at Borgess Health and Fitness the second Tuesday of the month at 6:30 and the third Saturday at 9:00 am. I don't know Bronson's schedule. Please come join us. When you see Dr. Verseman, they will give you a schedule of groups.
You chose a really good surgeon to consult with. I've never heard any
negative at all about his practice. Dr. Verseman is a wonderful, caring physician.

I had the RNY with Dr. Saber on February 10th and my fahter had the sleeve with Dr. Verseman on January 7th so if you have any questions please let me know.

I attend the Bronson support group meetings and hope to see you there sometime.
