Hi,

I have BCBSM PPO.  I have a consult next week for a tummy tuck.  I was wondering if anyone has had luck getting it approved.  I heard the only criteria is a 100 pound weight loss.

If so, who did you go to for it?  My consult is with Dr Ellen.

Thanks,

Erica

My husband is a nurse manager at Beaumont and he has heard great things about Dr. Ellens work.  I went to her website to see her tummys and they all look great!

Hi Erica,

Yes, I have BCBS PPO through the State.  It did pay for the panni but not the vertical cut.  And the 100 lb min loss was a criteria.  I went through Barix and Dr. DiNick.  The post op care was amazing and I have had no complications with my surgery.  [I also had documented rashes, but never needed to use them]

Good Luck!

Hi Erica,
I have BCBSM PPO.  They covered just the panniculectomy part, nothing else.  Had to pay my deductable, but that was it.  The criteria for mine was sustained 100+ lb. weight loss for more than a year, and the panni had to significantly hang down and cause skin irritation.  My ps documented all of that for me.

I'm not going to recommend my doc to you because I have some issues.  There are plenty of people here that have had good experiences.

Is she a RN?  I have great respect for ANYONE who can work in peds or neonates.  I just finished my NICU and PICU rotation for clinicals for respiratory therapy and it literally took the life outta me.  I went home crying EVERYDAY, my stomac was in knots and I just felt aweful.  So my hats off to anyone who can do that on a daily baisis and show those babies the love and care they need and deserve!

She is going to school to be a nurse.  Right now, she works in the area where they take the babies after they are born.  She checks the doctor's paper work-to make sure everything is correct.  She also takes care of the babies-changing diapers, feeding.  Things like that.  It is amazing some of the stories she has.  Some are horrible.

Hi Erica ,
Dr. Diana Lambie did a beautiful job with My t.t. and breast lift. She also did a bit of a mons lift tightened my muscles and repaired and removed some blood vessels from my abdomen that were not functioning properly.  B.C.B.S. paid all of it except a twenty dollar co pay. Dr. Lambie said I hit the jackpot with this because they will usually only pay for the tummy tuck.
POINT: Have Dr. Ellen put in for everything you want to have done- you never know maybe you will hit the jackpot to
It's been less than a year but my scars are very thin, albeit long and very light. The scars from my breast lift are hardly noticeable. Best wishes to you. I hope all your dreams come true.
God bless,
Annette
